I think few artists in popular music have quite the casual mystique around them like LDR. She is immensely popular (despite, as some said, her frequently questionable values). I think the name just carries too much weight for so many people. The type of name that attracts fans (especially younger fans) based solely on the name and the reputation she has. The crowd at Reading wasn't MASSIVE, it was reasonably big but we could get a decent spot at the sides without issue. Just a shame that even getting that spot, she was being completely drowned out by that Chevron stage that directly pointed towards the main stage. I wouldn't pay to see her, but what I did hear of her she sounded really good. Luckily Video Games got played before she wasn't able to do her encore though...

This feels like a complaint of where the Chevron stage was located by the sound of it. I seem to recall complaints that Blink's set had The Prodigy as overpowering it at points.

Yep, Catfish was the same. Whoever was on the Chevron finished with about 3 songs to go, and the sound suddenly turned good, it felt like that it was interfering even if you couldn't explicitly hear it the whole time. 

 

We went into the front pit for Liam Gallagher out of necessity more than anything else, and while the songs drowned it outwe could still hear it between tracks. They're going to have to sort it out somehow

Reminds me of two incidents on my European festival travels in 2018 - one being Massive Attack refusing to play Madrid's Mad Cool Festival because they felt they were drowned out by Franz Ferdinand on a main stage pointing right at them, and the other being at Lollapalooza Paris a week later where The Killers and Nekfeu were on side-by-side stages playing a battle of the bands contest.

London could easily be Hyde Park, BST do run a show on a Thursday occasionally if that's when the artists are available.

 

Wouldn't entirely rule out Wembley either, as they have dates left on the licence, though the calendar is a bit congested.

Yeah my instinct was stadium but I thought Wembley was full. Even if others are saying it might still have room for one more.

 

Maybe Tottenham Stadium or Twickenham?

There's not really such a thing as "too soon" when it comes to BST. They're not booking it as a "festival" in the way that Glastonbury or Latitude or wherever might, they'll happily have the same act turn up 2 days / 2 weeks running if it'd sell the tickets and no reason to think they wouldn't extend that over 2 or 3 years.

First time for the reunion-era train in Birmingham, am I right in thinking? Of the eight shows played so far, five have been London, one has been Glasgow, another has been Download and the last was Glastonbury.

3 dates.

 

The expectation would be Sat 5th July, Fri 11th July, and Sat 12th July, but they're not locked into those dates and in the past have run on a Thursday instead of a weekend show when the availability worked better.
