But I'm reminded of Metallica having Ghost the other year, for example, a band very much themselves with an arena pull to some extent. This being said, hearing a lot of neutral chatter from folk I know interested in that London Stadium show. Reckon that a few will hang fire too until Glastonbury's sale has been and gone, and then may plump for it as a consolation.

NorthernSoul52
Just now, northernangel said: I prefer Halestorm to Ghost so. Halestorm don't have the corpse of the Pope playing a sax solo, which is a mark against them next to Ghost, alas. But it's more reflective of size. Ghost were on the verge of becoming an arena band at that point. I'm not sure, a one-off at Wembley Arena aside, Halestorm have that pull across the rest of the UK to compare. Alter Bridge wouldn't have been a bad shout, had Creed not taken priority.

Yea size wise you are correct. Creed however would have been the one.

NorthernSoul52
Another rumour from the boards of Greasy Lake, but remaining Bruce Springsteen dates for Europe - to accompany the four shows rearranged after he fell ill in Sunderland (like many people before him) - are reportedly due to launch the first week of October. Not sure on what had been rumoured from a British perspective outside of Anfield, mind you. Cannot see there being more than a dozen extra shows as well - it's the third summer straight in Europe. I'd also honestly expected him to drop AU/NZ shows before then. Possibly a February run down under.
CaledonianGonzo
Sting's tour probably rules him out - although the Sunday is worryingly free https://x.com/LiveNationUK/status/1838111346837111178?t=I2KJj5xAXzgd4_Ga3W0wZw&s=19 Edited September 23 by CaledonianGonzo

He's got 1 occasion I think of last tour when he played 3 dates, 2 in miami and the atalanta. I guess Cardiff the day before though is the kinda of area that makes him possible. NorthernSoul52
Simple Minds and Texas have a co-headliner as one of the Lytham shows. I'd be well over a full tour for that. Thirty years next year since Simple Minds played in '95 too, no? Get 'em in as Other openers or that nice mid-afternoon slot on the Saturday for Pyramid. CaledonianGonzo
Out of that IOW poster I reckon Teddy Swims is the one that could also pop up at Pilton.

balti-pie
Jeez, i dont want to slag other festivals cos im sure people will have fun, but thats an absolutely dreadful IoW lineup and i'd watch 2/3 at the very most - actively avoiding most of the rest. Was pencilling it in for 2026 as an alternative volunteering experience, so them getting a dreadful year out of the way might clear the decks for something approaching acceptable the year after 😄

All acts I've seen a few times before and enjoyed (some immensely) but.. yeah, the juices aren't flowing. Horrific to see the re-emergence of Clean Bandit.
