Had priority code for Lionel Richie this morning.  £140 to £170 for tickets.  f**k that.  I expected it to be around half of that.  Mrs 4AM is a huge fan and even she said that was unjustifiable.  I can't see that selling out at those prices, surely?

They added a second night

I'd like to blame Oasis for this. even if its not their fault. ESPECIALLY if its not their fault! They seem to have normalised £150 tickets, and everyone's in on it now.

My hard £100 limit is going to need a review one of these months ☹️ Still havnt paid it, and dont want to at all. The Slipknot gig i'm off to in December seemed like a bit of a bargain at £70 but now i'm told its an album show, and they just play the album, its about 65 mins, so no pretend encore and then a whole load more songs like every other album show i've been to - nope, just album and then off.

So that explains the 'cheap' price at £70 then. Sucks.

My hard limit is about £65 which means twickets is my agent lol. £130 for Oasis was purely down to my unwillingness for some reason not to give up and sit there while a website doesn't even work for 2hours. 5 hours in you kind feel if you fold now what was it for.

When you are getting prices like 65/70 for papa roach and 60 for sum 41. 90 for LB is just purely taking the piss the ticket market for me in untenable.

As wild as their dynamic pricing got, I think the £100+ gig has been normalised since the pandemic really. I get that streaming services like Spotify have killed artist revenue and they've had to make it back elsewhere via live music (I think that's why so many bands are never 'off tour' so to speak these days too) but as long as people keep paying the crazy money bands/artists will keep paying it.

I'm sure Taylor Swift was charging upwards of £100 to sit behind the stage at some of her shows; I know she did a bit of it on a stage in the middle of the stadium but if you're actively paying for a seated ticket to watch the show on a screen behind the stage that's ludicrous.

The Maccabees have just updated their socials so looks like something is going on there ..

Was just on my way to post that. Mrs Lawson will be very happy with that, her favourite band. She saw them 31 times I think before they called it a day haha

Nice! I figured with Latitude's announcement imminent it would make sense for a return there. But if there's APE info that makes sense too!

Both i reckon is plausible?

Don't see why not. They were starting to gain some decent traction after Marks to Prove it so reckon there'd be fairly decent demand for them again after several years out.

I dunno, it's happened with football and people still keep going.

I don't know how some people afford it. I'm seriously limiting my away matches these days. Was going to go to Coventry on Saturday, but I'm not paying £37 for my ticket, and £25 for my son's. Was actually more affordable in the Premier League last season with the £30 price cap on away tickets.

Its been 7 years believe it or not. Ive always loved them but I know lots of people who only got into them with Marks to prove it then it all ended so soon afterwards.  They definitely clipped themselves in there prime.

Ah pants. Not a fan of Victoria Park. Hope they do some warm up efforts.

Yeah this year’s was the first APE i went to where I found the main stage to be a true nightmare for sight-lines. Couldn’t see almost anything and LCD Soundsystem have more than enough members on stage to look at!

Also the presale for the MTV EMAs went live at 12. Not too bad pricing in my opinion. Ranged from £55-75. Will be interesting to see who performs

Thats crazy, isnt it? The £30 price cap on away fans is all very well and good, but at Spurs its only the same approx 4k who ever get away tickets so it only benefits them. Its crazy to be paying £30 in an away end and just the other side of the barrier is basically the same seat, and at the likes of fulham itll be £78 ffs!

I'd prefer a home allocation of tickets at £30 as well. Though obvs they'd be a right bugger to get hold of . . . .

I thought £60 for Sum 41 wasn't too bad until I found my ticket from Wembley back in 2003 and realised it was £16....

haha must have been me then!! in previous years at the festival i’ve had no issue but that day i had no luck at all, even after moving around (until I was at the v back where the wind carried the sound away). but if it isn’t a larger problem then that gives me more assurance about seeing The Maccabees at APE!

Exactly lol. Sum 41 London is £70 standing. I've paid £68 for The Prodigy at Brixton because they are capable of playing higher venues and the festival positions they get here. Sum 41 are generally an academy band until this last jaunt and after playing 3rd down Download...same position Pendulum played on the big anniversary year who are doing Drumsheds with Knife Party and Nero supporting for £45.

Other than a very small number of my favourite acts, I’m determined to avoid paying arena prices from now on. I’m more than happy to go to smaller venues (who desperately need the support) as I did on Saturday to a low key gig, tickets £19.25 each, and much enjoyed.

My local venue where I’ve been volunteering for 12 years, max. 240 people, seems to be struggling with fewer live music than ever but filling in the gaps with theatre, comedy, etc which I find very sad.

It's good that they're filling the gaps. I looked at the upcoming for Bristol Fleece a few months back and that seemed to be almost exclusively tribute bands. Very sad state of affairs.

    • Just about recovered from a pretty mad few days in Amsterdam for ADE so thought I'd share some of our experiences - apologies for the length of the post but wanted to do it justice! I've been over there loads of times in the past but it was actually 2012, also for ADE, when I last spent a full weekend there. Mentioned a few pages back it was an 18th birthday present for my son so was great to spend it with him and my brother (who's not a massive clubber and had never been to Dam before but was well up for a big weekend!). Arrived on Friday afternoon and after dropping off our bags at the hotel we headed straight to the Gashouder for Awakenings Upclose with Four Tet. I've been to the festival before but never the 'Temple of Techno' so was a big tick off the bucket list. The venue was amazing and the fabled production did not disappoint at all. I've seen Four Tet a few times before and always enjoyed his sets but I wasn't too impressed this time. Didn't feel there was a lot of flow to it but the atmosphere was great and I'm glad we went. Headed back to hotel to meet up with some Dutch friends and then tried to sort out tickets for Dave Clark presents at the Melkweg. Should have just got them earlier in the day when we were waiting to fly over but didn't and it was the main regret of the weekend. We did go to Audio Obscura with Maceo Plex at the Raw Factory and it was a decent night. Saw him at Drumsheds back in March and this was quite a similar set, leaning heavily on his album. They only used the garage section of the venue and the roof was really low - felt sorry for some of the tall Dutch people who were having to duck to avoid the trussing and lights! We hit the wall just after 3am and then had to walk back to the hotel as it was the quickest option. Public transport in Amsterdam is great but most of it stops around 1am so you're then relying on buses that aren't too frequent. Got into the centre around midday on Saturday and headed over to the docks for the PIV boat party. Had never done one before and, while we had a really good time, I'm not sure I'd be in a massive hurry to do one again. We got on at 3pm and it didn't dock until 9 but we'd probably had enough by 7 or 8. The shear scale of ADE and number of events does often leave you wondering if there's something better going on elsewhere but you have to make your choices and largely stick with them (especially on a boat!!). Tried to get into the Cassius Club party afterwards but it was members and guests only so a non-starter really. Debated whether to head to Parallel with Anz but she wasn't on until 2.30am, and the skeleton transport links would have made it at least an hour journey home, so we made the sensible decision to go back around 1. Early start on Sunday for my lad and me (brother went home at lunchtime) as we had to check out of hotel and drop our bags in the lockers at Central station. Then headed over to Radion for The Breakfast Club which was the one I was most looking forward to over the whole weekend. Arrived just before 11am and managed to get some of the free breakfast that was included! The venue was great (only 'proper' club we went to) and split over 2 rooms of music and a chill out space, as well as an outside/smoking area. My 'must see' of the trip was Avalon Emerson and she played a 4 hour set from 10am. We got a lovely little space to the side of the booth just after 11 and didn't move from there until she finished. Everything was spot on - the sound and lights, the friendly, up for it crowd and of course the music which was magical! She moved effortlessly from one amazing track to the next while never losing the attention of the crowd for a moment. It was a complete masterclass and one of the best clubbing experiences I've ever had, let alone over the weekend! Was very surreal coming outside when she finished into the bright afternoon sunshine as it could have been any time of the day or night when we were inside on the dancefloor. Headed to Leidseplein on a massive high as we had tickets for Speedy J presents Stoor at the Paradiso. The set up is quite impressive - all 5 performers had their gear in the centre of the room with the crowd all around - and after an hour of ambient noise they came on just after 5pm. The first 75 mins was essentially a build up but things really went off once the first 4/4 beat was introduced. It was difficult to say who was doing what a lot of the time but the crowd were really up for it and we got a lovely spot sitting on the balcony with a view of the whole place.  Our plane home was supposed to be later that evening but long story short, it got cancelled. We had to stay the night but was all sorted too late to do much else so we quickly dipped into the Soul Clap Records and friends party. Was in a small bar that was very busy so we didn't end up staying too long. Would definitely recommend it for anyone who's even remotely into clubbing and dance music as there's nothing else that's on par with ADE really. It's not cheap once you factor everything in but it's well worth it imo. We've already reserved a lovely little house boat near CS for next year and planning to go from Thursday to Monday. Should also get some decent compensation for the cancelled flights so travel will be covered as well!
    • She allegedly told some of her fans a few months ago she’d be doing stadium tour in 2025. I imagine she’ll do Spurs or London Stadium as well.
