I genuinely think it could be electric. There are bound to be a good portion of crazy weekend camping teens going to see them even if they don’t really know Rage that well, and who will get involved in pits just for the hell of it. 

Combine that with the older day ticketers (people will buy those day tickets just for Rage, regardless of who else is on the bill), and I think you’re onto a winner, honestly. Rage’s music is needed these days more than ever, and I think people will latch onto that.

Might be a different crowd now but no reason why they won’t go down just as well.

Look at the post, does it cut out some places on the European map, for example the main piece of the poster kinda looks like France, square with a few dints, UK underneath.

is there method to my madness? Or am I heavily clutching at straws?

If RATM do get declared, I think you're likelier to see the day tix sell out. Weekend though hasn't really sold that quickly since about 2011/12.
