Fair play to Ajax and Spurs, 2 clubs that have spent virtually nothing in recent years and in the champions league semis.

Especially Ajax who have made a profit of 250m in recent seasons.

Agreed. Talk that Ajax have a lower player budget than Celtic. Incredible assuming that’s true.

Not really much you can say about last night. It will go down as a legendary champions league game. Horrible to come out on the losing side after being so much better than the opposition. Still, if you make defensive errors, you should expect to be punished at this level. Shame for Laporte as he has been amazing all season.

Can't complain too much, the team were fabulous last night. It is an absolute pleasure to watch us play football. If you luck is out, what can you do? ?‍♂️

Thats an abysmal record City have in the CL. 650m spent and not got beyond the quarters.

Fair play to Spurs. They were great over the two legs.

We reached the semis a few years ago. Got beat 1-0 off Madrid over 2 legs.

I thought Spurs were abysmal, Son very, very good, but the rest a load of shite.

Best game of football I've ever seen. Others come close, Germany 5-1 Brazil and that Barcelona - PSG game, but in terms of sheer excitement that was unparalleled. Heard before the game that it wasn't sold out? In my eyes City don't deserve a Champions League semi final if they can't sell out a huge game like that.

It was a thrilling game. As Easty says, it's hard to complain when you go down like that. It just is what it is. Winning the Champions League is tough and that's what makes Madrid's three in a row even more incredible. City will win it though. Sooner or later. They're going to be there or thereabouts every year until they do, I reckon. It took Chelsea four semi finals losses and one final loss in six years before eventually going on to win it in 2012. Football is swings and roundabouts and Chelsea have barely touched the Champions League knockouts in the last five seasons. As for this year, the neutrals of course will all be Ajax and if Spurs are missing both Kane and Son it will be very interesting. Messi against VVD, with Suarez back at Anfield will be eventful as well.

Utd will be in for Pochettino within 12 weeks btw.

Looking at the Utd squad at the moment, De Gea, Rashford, Martial and McTominay aside, the entire rest of the squad could be sold in the summer. Think there will be a huge clear out.

it was lucky. No one beats City by being better. :P

Liverpool were lucky yesterday too, being given a goal that was ruled offside. Should never have happened, there's something wrong with VAR. :D

City screwed up the first leg and couldn't do enough in the second.

Laporte was horrendous as well: responsible for both of sons goals!

Who are Utd going to get to replace all these players?

Apparently (and I think this is unlikely myself)

'

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants at least four new signings in the summer, with that £250m figure arrived at via the following maths:

£100m on Jadon Sancho

£70m on Matthijs de Ligt

£40m on Callum Hudson-Odoi

£40m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka'
