  1. 1. If The Cure were to headline would you be there? I'm intrigued due to the varied opinions of them on here.

    • Yes - Definitely, regardless of who else is on the other stages.
      207
    • More than likely - Depending on strength of the clashes on other stages.
      262
    • Unlikely - Know a couple of songs but there would probably be something else on you'd watch instead.
      194
    • No - Never been a fan so will definitely be elsewhere.

I like The Cure, but their Glasto set didn't do anything for me tbh. They didn't feel like a festival band, and I started to feel a bit bored. I ended up in the T&C field 😅

You mean their epic, universally acclaimed, greatest sound ever heard in the Pyramid field Glasto set, in 2019, or a different one? 😉

Seen bits of it

Planning a day next week to watch it all

Tried for tix but no luck

Plainsong at Glastonbury still makes hairs on back of next stand up one of my favourite sets ever

Don't take too long and i've read that they will be taking it down again within the next week or so.

Yeah.  New record is fantastic, they still sound as vital as ever.  Amazing considering they've been going for getting on for half a century.

I had misgivings in 2019, as everyone I know who ever saw them live said they were dull, but decided to give them a crack at the last minute and it remains one of my favourite Glastonbury memories, the sound was insane, Robert Smith was cute as hell and the setlist the perfect mix of leaning into Disintegration era tracks and the pop stuff.

I hope that they have one more headline set in them in the next few years while they're still playing live.

Killing an Arab.

No dislikes please, I’m not saying this for political reasons, it’s simply (IMO) their best song

They played it in 2018 when I saw them in Hyde Park.

I've read quite a few articles about how it is a very misunderstood song

I need to give it a listen. Not the thread for it but The Cure, Olivia and Stevie Wonder would be a great set of headliners.

Honest question -- I wonder what the age range of a Cure listener is. Ie. have there been any viral incidents on Tiktok to expose them to people under 40?

My daughter is 9 and absolutely loves them! I think enough bands reference them as a huge influence for people to check them out. When I last saw them in 2022, there was a wide range of attendees at the gig.

Someone mentioned the album show live stream is only up for a limited time, I'd really recommend checking it out if you haven't.  The album play though was fantastic and endsong stood out as being epic live.  3 hours long, the album followed by pretty much the whole set they were performing last touring cycle that ends absolutely stacked with the pop hits of their peak.

Saw them at Rock Wertcher in 2019 on what I recall being the hottest day i've ever endured, they were my highlight of the festival by some distance.

Nothing But Theives, Weezer, The 1975 and BMTH all on the undercard that day with TOOL headlining, belter.

It really is! They played it at the end of the set (before any encores) when I saw them in 2022 (along with Alone, A Fragile Thing, And Nothing is Forever, and I Can Never Say Goodbye). Remember commenting to my wife that all the new songs sounded great…and lo and behold, they are indeed!
