I think its a yes ... but they have been asked to delay announcing it until closer to the time because of potential impacts on the bar trade ( not that I think there will be much ) they will have made the decision by now ... logistically they need to work out how to plan the deliveries of which alcohol will be a significant amount .... without that the deliveries will be lots smaller .... Pay in advance at your local Co-op, choose from a pre-selected list, limit amount per person, get a voucher, collect at the festival. Then they'll know exactly how much to ship in (i.e. shit loads). tarw
Will the Co-ee be open Monday and Tuesday so us volunteers/workers can have first dips on the stock? I think it would be good for staff training / snagging.

You'd expect that their staff are going to be preoccupied with getting the store ready to open. You should get a few of the food stalls open, especially on the Tuesday, but that'll mostly be the ones in the main markets that have a lot less setup to do and/or a lot more practice at it. scaryclaireyfairy
Unless they do sell booze, they won't really be of any more use than the usual 'corner shop' type stalls so there's nothing to encourage people potentially walk a fair way to seek them out. Or remember them after. A half page ad in the programme would achieve as much w/o the faff on their part.

I think they will be as I imagine they wont charge £57million squillion pounds for some sanitary pads like the corner shops do.
Bradders
I never seem to be able to find a corner shop anyway. The co-op will do well just by its visibility.

Yeah but assuming it's not smack in the 'city centre' but out towards camping areas like at other festivals, how many of those in a pinch with sudden onset of period, sunburn, kagoule failure etc are going to trek there over a more expensive easily reached option? Not all of them and surely they want to reach as many people as they can. I think there was something about their new Pilton store being unlikely to turn a profit so a shop at the festival was to help balance the books. I'll happily walk a bit further to save a few quid but what percentage of the festival would? In terms of impact, footfall and brand awareness they surely need a USP. I don't know normally I buy first aid stuff etc to cover every eventuality but end up not needing them and them going off. I'm a bit more relaxed about bothering this year knowing that they are there and are not charging an arm and a leg for things. I also imagine those on a budget will be happy buying snacks from there. Best of both worlds then - people can only order a limited amount so won't hugely impact the bars but it will stop people lugging in loads of trolleys and that if they can pick some booze up onsite. I don't like warm cans so probably wouldn't bother if it was just cider or beer but may be tempted by other options. Couldn't see it really impacting my bar spend much. They did something similar st Electric Picnic in 2012, not sure if they still do. Not a branded supermarket but an on-site off-licence where you could order cans to pick up on arrival. Opinion is still so divided on whether they will or won't sell alcohol I almost think this should be a poll...

It would just save so much effort not having to lug it in and prevent the remains of dead trolleys littering the paths to the gates and inside. I'd happily take a wander to wherever they are on site for booze rather than back to the car, for example, too.

I dunno stuff like the meal deals gives a good opportunity for a cheap and healthy lunch that you can take out with you. Plus reasonably priced mixers. And fruit! I can't guarantee it though cos I might well get distracted by a more expensive option cos I just can't be arsed moving. Tell me I can pick up x cans* at the same time and you can bank on me finding the enthusiasm to visit and spend. *I assume there'd be some sort of limit on what any person can buy in one visit. If you can take unlimited alcohol on site and leave site to get more booze, why would glasto care if they sold beer on site? I doubt the Coop would agree to build a store in Pilton if they weren't allowed to sell their most profitable product at a festival
