I agree on the fanbase thing they clearly have fans, but I don't think they built up a 'that invested' dedicated fanbase. More people WFH now so less commuting with the radio, when we do drive we play podcasts or streamed playlists, so unless you follow your fave band and know they have new music coming out, you're going to completely miss out new albums and singles. And like Ron said, none of the songs were catchy happy on the new album, so they didn't get featured on those pre-made streaming playlists, ergo the album flopped.
Musicians go in and out of vogue all the time, nothing to do with quality or anything, they have peaks and troughs of popularity, 15 years ago, Nile Rogers couldn't get arrested, saw him 3rd down in Canterbury supporting the Charlatans and someone else. These days, he's riding high again. Get the feeling NY is going through a bit of a decline in his popularity - if you like, his share price is currently low. No doubt it will rise again.
it was V 2008 that was grim, and i fully agree
buuuut they were great at Birmingham Academy...should of stuck to that level, got lost in Arenas and Headline slots
Blimey this is weak... KOL were great 15 years ago, but I walked away when they were playing at RW in 2017 as it was extremely boring. No NOS for me this year!
