Would’ve thought best best bet is find someone you can trust who would actually want to pitch their tent next to your van. They drive it in for you, they get an easy hassle free place to camp and in return you let them use your shower etc. a lot of people will want to camp inside the fence but it might sway some of they can use your facilities.

You could try renting a van through a company like Quirky Campers - they area third party agent facilitating rental from van owner to rentee. There are plenty similar, and a few let you message the owner before agreeing to rent. You could look for one close to the festival site and see if they're prepared to deliver it for you. With contact to the festival office first, and the paperwork to confirm the rental, they should be allowed to do that if they're prepared to, for an extra fee.

Plenty on here that offer a drop off service, are within 80 miles of the festival, and available for the festival dates. Of course, some might not be prepared to rent it out to attend Glasto..?

That's a great idea, it didn't occur to me that they did that.

That's also a great idea thanks @Deaf Nobby Burton

I've certainly shared with a bunch of folks years back, only I was the one who collected the van and stayed in the tent.

So for that option they'd need to be the name on the CV pass to get past checkpoint charlie.

I guess lets see how I get on in the melee tomorrow night before I consider options for the CV pass resale on Sunday.

It may seem a cheeky question, but I wonder if any posters here have seen somebody refused for not having the ticket holder in the van?

I've only ever known it happen with pre-deliveries, never known anyone take a chance or have a problem with that attendee (sickness or what have you).

Hi mate.

I have a similar situation re yours, and also some experience getting into the CV East fields on someone else's ticket.

I think it was 2016,  we needed a CV ticket and missed out on the sale, but we managed to buy one from someone on FB who had an extra. As I remember, we got there early doors on the Tuesday morning & queued up waiting to get on to the CV grounds, but it was a nightmare getting in that year cos of the ground conditions etc so there were delays. We kept in good comms with the people we bought the ticket off, managed to get reasonably close to them in the queue, and in the end his wife jumped into my truck with her ticket so that there wouldn't be any issues with the CV ticket not matching a GE ticket, and we had no probs getting in. That year I actually set the trailer tent up on the Tues, left it in it's spot, drove back down to Devon and then came back up on the Thursday with the Mrs and more supplies... I just wanted to make sure we got a spot as close to the hill of death and the gate.

We have a similar situation to you this year (or our friends who we're trying to get the tickets for do) as we'll be after coach ones tomorrow as well for them to increase chances. Obviously if they get a coach ticket, it means they cant buy a CV ticket. However as I'm now working the fest & will be camped elsewhere from the Saturday b4, i've said they can have my CV ticket. So if they're successful tomorrow, then the plan similarly to me in 2016 is to come up early doors on the Tuesday (with two vehicles unfortunately as they wont be able to get back after the fest), get in & pitch up their caravan in the morning, leave the site in the other vehicle and then get to the coach departure point on whichever day, jump on the bus & get in to the fest that way. I'll be on hand to help them in with the ticket over the phone, or I was thinking my wife could give them her ticket so at least it matches on the way in to the CV field, which they'll bring back down.

Trying to think of another way around it really as it's all a bit of a mega faff, but it's needs must really to get them to the fest!

Thanks for the info that's very helpful.  That sounds like your proven method thus far is the trojan horse of having someone that complies with their rules in the vehicle.  The one with your wife lending someone a ticket intrigues me, as will they not just check the picture just to see it's her ticket?

In the past when I was medically unable to drive I did try to fall on the sympathy of the fest regarding this rule, but you know what they're often like these days - they have to enforce them really or the system would collapse and there would be wholesale profiteering of the CV tickets as there was before they tightened the rules.

Tbh the wives do look similar. But surely if they have our GE ticket with a matching address on, with the option of a phone call to the wife to confirm details, they'll get in. I mean could even send the wife up with them on the Tuesday I suppose, we'll see.

I suppose the long and short of it is, once everyone's in the gates, no matter the faff, it will all be forgotten 🤞

Yeah I get it, soz. The introduction of a twix break somewhere would probably fit in well with this type of planning. 🤯

Your wife sounds very amenable.  Does she frequent these parts and know about these lovely things she's prepared to do?  🙂

Funny you ask. No she's not an eFester 😂

Anything Glasto related mind, she'll do as she's told.

However any other inconceivable area of my life, she firmly wears the trousers!

That's a fair compromise in my book.  "that one week, that's yours.  those other weeks of the year, they're mine."

Buy a standard ticket not a coach ticket, then get a cv ticket in the accommodation resale.

I know that seems like the sensible option, but after what is it 28 times I figure I need to continue to keep my options open for getting a ticket, especially this time around and in the resale. If I only applied for GA and failed I'd kick myself.

Also  when I made that decision I'd expected one of the pre erected caravan suppliers to be available. No joy yet but still got a, couple to hear from, plus another potential location to put a van.

I'm not sure what the answer is here tbh, but this is some of what the problems that the festival being just so crazily popular now is that GFL offer coach etc but what ends up happening is people so desperate to get a ticket who want to go in campervans or other options try to get the coach tickets then create massive logistical problems for themselves.

This is not having a go btw, I totally get it, but just seems that it needs to be looked at for me, the festival wants to be 'greener' but we've already seen GFL/See Tickets refusing to let people switch coach departure point for this years festival despite 2 1/2 years since and people have moved about)

Ah that is an interesting situation, as you say of course people have moved - mind you countless people will have change relationships too and they've never been able to cater for that too.

The first time I had this situation I'd had my licence cancelled by the docs, but being a middle aged unfit bloke I need to pee about 3 times a night after having a drink and there's no way I can do that trudge to the loo and nor can I envisage myself peeing in a lenor bottle either 🙂

With those caravans set up on site it worked out pretty well - indeed last time I even got a tesco delivery to the caravan firm and they put the cans of booze etc in the fridge bless them, so we were just carrying clothes on our backs.

Sadly that firm has ceased trading in the last few years and the others have had an extra two years to get booked up.

As ever though, even in the last 2 days of this topic the hive mind of efesters has given me some great suggestions.

There's always a way round something. 🙂

I just think for this year at least given the amount of time since tickets were purchased they could have tried to help people a little.

What are these caravans that are set up on site about then? Don't think I've ever heard of that!

As with a lot of subjects which get discussed here, firstly what they have works fairly well and secondly where they offer opportunities to be flexible it often leads to someone pushing the boundaries or taking the mick.

For those caravans many of the times I've used them they were in some of the outer fields of East, you'd see the caravans and maybe they'd have a badge of a (often somerset) rental firm in them.  They would bring them in a couple at a time in the days before the festival (with a copy of CV pass supplied by the renter), then the person who's hired it just turns up - mostly with their car/van so we were a fairly rare exception.

As with Worthy View and the like, you pay for it, but if you're middle aged and treat it like a weeks holiday it's not expensive compared to the off site options.

That's interesting.  I'm starting to lean away from turning up and queuing for hours on end but don't really fancy 'glamping' but perhaps this is an alternative....what is the rough cost?

My concern is that once I end up in one of those I won't ever go back to standard camping!

Well tbh I've only ever used two companies and that one is the more expensive of the two and last I asked it had gone up to over a grand, so it's not cheap.  That was why I was using A&D Caravans who were similarly good, but cost less, however sadly they've chosen to cease trading after the last couple of years.

I believe there are some which cost less, but I haven't yet had any responses back so am pretty confident that they too are fully booked this year - I think several have previous customers who come back year after year - like a lot of the festival stuff.

Edit - just had another firm email me that I've not used before, they're fully booked and theirs is more expensive again.  I guess if you have say 4 of you sharing a van and think of it as a holiday, then the use of a cooker, fridge, loo and shower can be worth say 3 or 400 quid each to many for an easier week on yer weary bones?

Yes that is quite a lot of money on top of the ticket price, booze, 'extras' , food.

I'm sure a couple of my mates would go for it, but I'm also sure a couple of others would scoff at the cost....i'm only 40 so not really that old yet either!

I think I've been doing some sort of rented van since younger than you but tbh before that for many years I'd graduated to maybe a 5 or 6 birth tent, which in those those had quite a few aluminium poles.  I'd bring it in on a folding trolley which didn't cope very well with the (very rare obvs) muddy years.  Also the worst of those years I just ended up staying in that tent and it rained every single day and after the first day every time I went to the loo or got up for the day I was putting on boots which were already wet, so that was the first day for donkeys years that I left on the Sunday rather than sticking it out.

Don't get me wrong, it's a different experience going back to the van, up the hill and further way from any action.  In the tents we used to have a brilliant fire going for days and several of the party found being there with their pals one of the highlights of the week 🙂
