i say it to all my group, position position position. crowd location can make or break a set. i tend to sacrifice seeing some stuff to get in among the super fans. made sets like o-rod, kenny, confidence man, sam fender really special.

Yep, but you get that just as much, if not more so by being with your pals that you care about as much as the act, much further back, where you can dance, not be penned in and feel the scale of it. Being close makes it better for normal gigs, not for a Glasto mega gig, in my opinion.

I get that on the talking, but you generally find people who've gone to the speaker stacks are there for the sound, not to chat.

Enough space for you potentially, but you can't try and pretend that it's not rammed in there (ruined Arctics last appearance for me) and no way you get in there with a big group for a big gig without pissing a lot of people off, or being in there a couple of hours before at least, which carries the risk of needing a piss issue.

It must’ve been discussed on here, but he did a small warm-up gig in Frome a day or two before. Lucky people.

Yeah at the Cheese and Grain on Friday night, its a tiny venue id liken to a village hall. Amazing for people who got to that im sure!

The lead singer from Flyte managed to get tickets and he wrote this glorious Twitter thread about being on the barrier for it. He makes you feel like you are there with him and it perfectly whet the appetite before watching him that night!

One the best gigs I have ever seen and one of the best moments of my life. Headed right in after Haim and was like 10 rows back, surrounded by a group of friends and cool strangers, drinks flowing and lots of banter between Noel and Paul coming on stage which didn't make the wait feel long. I loved every single minute of the set and couldn't believe the time when it was over. It felt like an 90 minute set. I guess that's what happens when you are lost in the moment, watching one of the greatest songwriters of all time at the best place on earth. I've done every glasto since `09 and the only set that is close is The Stones in `13.

That moment he said he had another surprise "from the East Coast of America... New Jersey" I completely lost my shit - a huge Springsteen fan, his music means a huge amount to me and my family and he was my first Pyramid headliner. Will never ever forget that moment. Didn't cry, just bounced around like an absolute maniac screaming along to Glory Days.

Preceding that with Dave Grohl doing Band on the Run and then following it with one of the best half hours of music I've ever seen cemented it as one of the best shows I've ever been to. Obviously the three main ones with the huge singalongs and the fireworks, then in the encore Helter Skelter and the last three songs from Abbey Road were incredible - Golden Slumbers sounded immense, I love Carry That Weight then we see Mccartney/Springsteen/Grohl supergroup playing the outro to The End. The stuff of dreams really.

Rest of the set was amazing too - I didn't know everything but the ones I did were huge moments for me. So happy to have got resale tickets just to see that - could've begrudgingly missed the more easily accessed stuff like Sam Fender etc, but this was not to be missed

He was basically doing an autobiography with his music. It was emotional at the time but watching back it hits home that this may well be the last time we get to see the greatest of all time play on the most iconic stage in the world.

It’s genuinely the best you will ever get on the Pyramid and anyone there is privileged beyond belief, even getting to watch it back home is up there.

Never to be beaten.

One of the last living musical legends.

It was special. It was definitely a moment, one which will be remembered for Glasto for a long time.

Its all you can ask for, and it's was everything and more.

When he's gone, we will talk amongst ourselves about being fortunate enough to be there 🙂

In all my Macca thoughts since last Saturday, it seems very strange to me that I had more or less forgotten that I have actually shared a radio studio with him!

Back in the 80s, I worked for the BBC's Russian Service and Macca was (I think) the first guest to participate in a live phone in post-Iron Curtain with the Soviet Union.  Thatcher was the second (I think, it may have been the other way round).  It was very stressful, as it was extremely high profile and the technology was new to us and telephone links to the Soviet Union were shaky to say the least.  Macca didn't stop to socialise afterwards, unlike Maggie who stopped afterwards to knock back whisky with the crew.

And Macca's agent was a complete patronising arse.

Did he finish the call with "honey, disconnect the phone"?

Snap. I’ve been going since 09 and the only 2 times I’ve had that wow what a moment in history feeling was the stones and Sir Paul. Was a privilege and a once in a lifetime moment for me.

The Stones still just inch it for me, but that's very much a personal preference based on my own tastes and experiences with both acts.

Yep, still team Stones here, I can't see that ever being topped for me personally. Love Macca, love The Beatles, loved the Wings stuff he played, Christ, he brought out Bruce! But I LOOOOOOOOVE The Stones.
