It'll be on more surfaces than the dinner service, if it doesn't get sorted soon. I've now had to ring up a drain specialist, but am not sure that he can help. I'm waiting for a call back from him. I haven't actually started digging up the drains, as was my original plan. I'm now waiting for confirmation from the drain man, that that is my only option. I know that some drainage companies can put down a rotating mascerator, which will chew anything up in front of it. I say anything, but what I mean is that it can chew up solid bricks, but wouldn't be able to go through solid metal etc. We can last (to my reckoning) until Monday, and then something's got to be done. So, if he can help, at least I'll not get charged an emergency weekend rate. The cost will still hurt though.

Any update on this? It's way past Monday and I'm imagining you both up to your armbands in the stuff. Please tell me you're ok.

Hello Ommadawn,

Fortunately we are not having to wear arm bands because of the drainage issue. We just wear arm bands now at all times, in case there's a biblical flood, and Noah isn't going to let us on his boat as a pair. We've told him umpteen times that we are truly a pair of idiots, but he keeps telling us that our names aren't down, so we're not coming in.

To cut a very long story short, we aren't covered in shit, as I had to get a drain specialist out to sort it. The good news is that not only did he sort it, but he told me in detail what the problem was, where it was, and how to go about sorting it myself. A right on bloke, if I'm allowed to say.

So, the drains are clear, but the overriding problem is still there. This will involve me digging down to the faulty drain section and replacing it.

Thanks for your concern Ommadawn. :)

Result. Glad it's sorted. :)

He's a nice bloke, and I forgive him for the song 'you're beautiful'. I mean he's got to lose that look like he's straining one out though. Other than that, get your hands off him, he's mine!

Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with the bloke, other than that song. He's perfectly affable, if not charming. He also possesses an ability to express himself the way it should be expressed. With honesty.

He's a bit of a looker too.

James, if you are reading this, start getting your knickers off, I'm gagging!

Seriously Though II (The Eejit Bites Back) - carry on being you, and don't give a bollocks about a load of knob heads that would have you think some other way.

Well he doesn't fit in with my rocky street/dark alley credentials. In one way.

As in, long hair, leather, fake attitude.

But in other ways, hell he does!

Genuine attitude! Not posey badass tough guy attitude, but real.

Yeah, he seems like a nice honest bloke. Nothing wrong with that.

Surely you too are privileged, if compared to certain others? Isn't it therefore 'relative', and therefore truly unquantifiable, unless the rest of us agree that yours should be the quantitative definition that should be adopted in this, and all instances, now and forever more? If not, who is to draw the line, and why should they be the judge, jury, and executioner?

Yes of course i am, but I don't spaff off  that because something won't affect me adversely it should clearly be done regardless of the impact on others.

Every person in this country has some degree of privilege, but those that are unaware of their own while being callous to those less fortunate than them I'm happy to call out as an asshole.

A lot of marginalised people voted to leave, presumably because they think they'll be better off.

There's no evidence that he's knowingly choosing detrimental impact on others.

I agree if you have a lot or nothing, economic motivation might not be part of your reasoning, and abstract values might take priority.

Just tried to find out more about his views, he won't say which way he voted, doesn't like labels, and thinks politics is divisive. Splitting people who should be natural allies. The uncertainty around leaving is definitely damaging.

His original interview was very much a "I'm alright Jack" set of comments. It was also about 8-9 months ago when Brexit being canned was an actual possibility. I'm happy calling him an arsehole and disputing that he's a "nice honest bloke".

I'm taking this over to the "tangents" thread

i fully understand where you are coming from. However, he has actually been 'honest', in that he has stated his view, and not tried to side step it. Personally I'd take more factors in to account than someone's politics, before calling them an 'arsehole'.
