The festival will take place between the 15th and the 19th of July, at the Bánffy Castle from Bonțida, Cluj county (Romania).

one of the former partners of the festival has started a new one 2 weeks earlier, looks very similar to what electric castle has been in the first 2 or 3 years, a cheap festival with no headliners.

they will have to deliver a good line up, as the conditions are HORRENDOUS. i've heard stories with people taking up to 3 hours to come from Cluj to Bontida (i think it's about 40 km) . the road has no asphalt on a good portion and the whole infrastructure outside the festival sucks. camping will have to be your option if you go there.  i've only heard good things about the festival setup though.

Yeah, I've read about that too. But the ones who should create the infrastructure outside are the authorities mainly because the roads belong to the Romanian state.

As far as I know there was big traffic only on the Florence + the Machine day. Despite the fact that the organizers expected this & they announced on all social media + mobile notifications that people should go as early as they can, people still decided to go to Florence's concert only 2-3 hours before the gig.

So I think it also was people's mistake because they didn't go to the festival early enough... everyone could be there in time if they would have gone earlier from the city.

your points are valid, but they still grew the festival too much compared to the road infrastructure in my opinion. tbh, unless they pull a stellar line up (they had good line ups some years, but nothing really spectacular) i won't attend and go to festivals abroad instead.

Electric Castle just won the Best Medium-Sized Festival award at the European Festival Awards!

Initially i've heard rumours about chemical brothers playing here, but now i think my chemical romance are very likely as they play russia on the 11th

Looking forward to this, me and three friends are coming from the UK for the first time. I'm happy about the amount of liquid dnb at Electric Castle with Hospitality there!

I am not especially interested in Electric Castle. I just wonder how the situation looks like in in Romania? Is there a chance that some festivals will happen this year?

Even if the situation in Romania improves significantly, EC won't happen. Most of the bands are considering postponing/canceling their tours (or they've already done that) because of the bans in other countries. So...

Local festivals with Romanian bands on the line-up = maybe
Large festivals with international line-up = no chance

the state of emergency will be lifted on the 15th of May in Romania, but I still expect heavy restrictions.

No way summer festivals are happening in Romania imo. But right now only one event has been cancelled (Awake Festival), the others including a stadium Celine Dion concert are still in place theoretically :Electric Castle, Untold, Neversea, Summer Well .

No festivals in Romania this summer according to the president. 

Saga Festival has been moved to September but I doubt it it will happen.

Officially cancelled, passes for this year will be available for next year. In the announcement, the staff said that now they're trying to reconfirm the same artists for the 2021 edition.

they have delayed a lot the announcement, expecting some kind of government support. today, both electric castle and summer well have been officially cancelled. i don't think they were delivered some compensation from the state, but i doubt. i think the big events will live on, not sure about smaller/newer festivals.

LE: untold/neversea were cancelled too so it seems like it was an agreement between event runners on when to announce this
