Mattymooz
Interesting that Misch seems to be touring with Yussef now for next year, would have been interesting to see how they worked together as a duo in a live performance

That’s the first festival I’ve seen La Roux confirmed for next summer so I guess she’s another act who’s very likely to be back.

They'd be after Other headliner IMO. John Peel would ideal, but I don't see them accepting a headline slot in a tent when they can outright headline other festivals across Europe. Still one of my favourite moments from a gig is FNM walking on to Reunited at Download, and a field full of metalheads all going ape shit. Awesome show. Yeah I think you're probably right, a JP headline set would be sick though! They did do the NME tent at Reading that one time, the same year they were headlining Download, but that was probably after having a tonne of money chucked at them so that 'heavy day' wasn't left with Kings of Leon as the main option to close. This always makes me wonder, as it's something that gets bounced around here pretty regularly. When we talk about bands not accepting the slot they'd be offered, how often is that being based on previous behaviour or statements? I always get the feeling that it's a position we project onto acts based on what we think we know rather than anything solid, but might be wrong. Yeah I imagine R+L paid more than Glastonbury would offer, and the NME tent was the second stage at that festival as well. It's a shame really because there's quite a few acts like that in the rock/metal/alt scene who would be awesome at Glastonbury, but there's just a misalignment between what the festival would offer and the band would want, when they can play more specialist festivals for a better slot and pay. It's a tough one, but maybe acts should look at what they get from playing the festival outside of the money - exposure to a potentially new audience, great TV coverage and the potential to break out of the rock/metal box that acts inevitably get lumped in. I just look at a band headlining European festivals, Glastonbury (probably) offering a much lower slot for less pay and putting 2+2 together! To be honest, I'm not even sure how much Glastonbury is chasing these type of acts in the first place (though they did randomly book Coheed that one time)
Quark
Fair enough! Find the level of detective work on this site amazing at times, but at the same time I'm pretty certain that there's a lot of cases where we come up with 2+2=banana

Cseguin
I don't get why no one thinks as The Strokes as a solid friday headliner. They said they were interested to play the pyramid if they were called. They play dozen of shows, well why not Glastonbury on a weird year ? i think they are as famous as The Cure, the killers and got so much hits to play for one hour and a half. BFisherr
See the Taylor swift thread, but Taylor is releasing her 8th album tonight, possibly why she has been holding off on announcing tour dates. Seems inconceivable that she could go 2 albums without any Europe dates.

We’ll know more tomorrow I guess but I’ll be surprised if an album that so heavily involves the Dessners and co is suited to headlining festivals/stadiums. I think this probably fits in with Taylor coming back in 2022 with a more standard album. I hope you’re right though!

I still think there's a chance she's just doing UK and US shows, and the European ones have been sacked off with the uncertainty around travel. My gut is this puts her right back in the frame for Glastonbury but that's probably the hype talking. I suspect we'll find out some news on dates soon and that may shed some light on her plans for 2021. Interesting to see if the rescheduled US dates are still "Lover Fest" or if she's tearing up all the original plans. The fact she's billing this as her 8th record and not a side project of sorts makes me think the Lover tour has been rethought altogether. Picks her spots and can be around for her mom, and everyone will pay the bucks. Look at the trend of younger pop stars signing vegas residency contracts. That stigma is gone with vegas being where washed up artists go to make money. They can give their best to whoever attends twice a week and can just focus on that plus any other matters. Gaga did it for her own health and she doesnt have to be out on a major tour grinding it out, which is what caused her last injury. You’re probably right that they’re as well known, they don’t seem to be as well loved though. For me personally, I saw them at Reading so ticked the box* and could happily be drawn away elsewhere. *just an expression I don’t actually go to see bands to tick a box
