Leyrulion
Hello, does anyone know if the rule on bringing as much booze as you can carry on first entry applies to Oxfam volunteers as well as Boomtown volunteers?

It does, providing the security don't decide to be a pain (it has been known...)

Might email them as well then, just to have it on record just in case. Are the security really that much stricter then other festivals? Seem to be from all the things I've seen on here and the reddit?

Boomtown has a reputation as a festival with an above average drug problem - they've had a few drug-related deaths, and it's focus on soundsystem / rave culture (even more so in the early days) meant that there were a lot of people who partied hard. A result of this is that the police and the licencing body (the council) require the festival to have a pretty thorough search / entry management policy (did you know - if you leave and re-enter the festival too often, your wristband will be suspended, and you'll need to have a conversation about what you're up to...), with lots of security checks, searches, dogs etc. It can feel more like trying to get into a club than a festival at times. They are also pretty on it once you're in the festival - searches / confiscations / evictions do happen - note that the terms of your ticket include agreeing to be subject to (non-personal, i.e. bags and pockets) searches at any time... The security teams are trained, but as always in some cases the finer details don't stick, such as alcohol policy. Note - the festival does take poor behaviour by security seriously - If you think you are being treated badly, be compliant and calm, ask for their SIA number, look for a steward and ask if they can report it for you. There should also be a text / email service during the show that is monitored by event control.
