Corona Virus - Should we be worried?

We don’t have a contract of any sort. We’ve paid a deposit to attend a music festival. Worse comes to it they’ll cancel and refund, nothing more complicated than that.

that is correct and yet who will be most upset, those who were lucky enough to get a ticket but now have to wait for the next year   or to allow those with a ticket to be allowed entry next year ?

Performers could decide to not attend then it becomes complicated . For arguments sake full monies have been paid  and the situation worsens ... it's still not stopped but half of the performers won't turn up then what happens ?.. the contract has been broken

In terms of punters it’s already been discussed - either the festival upsets people with tickets now or those who missed out this year. It’s up to them.

In terms of performers I’m betting there are some pretty robust contracts in place. If the festival is forced to cancel the whole thing it would almost certainly be classed legally as a force majeure event ie the contract couldn’t be fulfilled through circumstances that were not the fault of either party. No monies would be paid and everyone would have to walk away.

On a serious note, all decisions like this balance the economic impacts as well. The impact on the local area is significant so it would be in the mix. Thousands of people’s livelihoods are affected by it.

Was initially worried about all this but have now calmed down and accepted that what will be will be. Much bigger forces at play, if the festival is cancelled it'll be in the name of saving lives and you really can't argue with that.

Not going would suck, but at least no one will be missing out as no one else would be going either! For the last year we've been planning to treat this festival as our honeymoon (getting married the weekend before) and now we've started to make a back up plan just in case. In doing so we've realised that if that's what it comes to then it's really not the end of the world. Although if the festival is canceled please don't all rush to rent romantic cottages in the lake district that weekend ;)

In terms of refunds and that I have a suspicion that they'd come down on the side of letting people keep their tickets for 2021. Money in the bank for one, and also guarantees a sell out 2021 (which should never be taken for granted). Also it's the path of least resistance in terms of potentially pissing people off, the angriest punter would definitely be the one who had a ticket for a cancelled festival then failed to get one next time, whereas those who did miss out this time would at least get another chance for what is essentially the same festival. But who knows, I'm sure there are dozens of considerations we can't even think of.

First visit to this thread. Can someone fill me in with a rough percentage likelihood we should worry about this, or other festivals facing cancellation? Have we deduced anything?

cheers

Anything up to end of March/beginning of April 30%

May around 15%

June 5% I reckon.

No.

It’s 69 pages of hysteria, an awful attempt at humour that was deleted by Neil, followed by snowflake/free speech nonsense, with a daily update on virus figures from NorthernRingo.

There isn’t any Foals/1975 chat though, so minor bonus.

Where’s the pic from?

Supervalu (Dublin)...

There's also just been a local school shut down for 2 weeks. Apparently our first case was a young lad who return from a ski trip in Italy... and has been sick in school all week 🙄

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but apparently the Pope could have the virus. He’s currently ill with cold like symptoms.

If he is cast down by the virus then it will cause major disruption throughout the world.

It would be the pontiff no return.

I’ve said this before but will say it again. If Corona is still a big enough problem in June for it to cancel Glastonbury by that point we’ll all have enough to worry about and a festival will be the last thing on our minds.

In a world where overreaction and pandering to populism is rife that may not be the case.  Every reaction isn't proportionate.

Playing devils advocate, the Louvre was closed today.  Would you say that is proportionate or an overreaction?  That possible overreaction is worrying peeps.
