Antibodies are confirmed so now it’s just to see if that gives immunity. I did but I had it on in the background so didn’t catch all of it. I heard the question but not all of his response. Even if It doesn’t give immunity you would hope having the antibodies would make it less serious than it otherwise might have been first time around. There are only 34 residents in that home at the moment so basically the virus has swept through the home. An army testing unit has moved in. Guest
Apparently there’s talk that this NHS X app the government has put together will only work if the user has their phone unlocked. Surely they can’t be that dumb to make it like that? The one they turned down from Apple/Google would’ve run in the background.

Yeah i read for 250mil, fasttracked through without a proper tender process. I think i read it on twitter comments so not a solid gold source but we shall see, if theres a story there, it'll surely come out. But not a stretch to think of cummings getting super horny at the chance of getting everybody's personal data.

I think the app will need to be running with the screen on and unlocked to work. Which would be a huge drain on battery too. Don’t worry Apple are still going to release their app too which sounds like it’ll be much better.

Beware of detection bias. Back in early April we could do 16k tests and one day I think detected about 8k positives so 50% of tests Today there were 85k tests and 4k positives, 4.5% tests. We weren't detecting anywhere close to all the cases back in early April, not least because the criteria for who could get a test was limited due to capacity. Smeble
The not so United Kingdom all appear to be doing their own thing🙄🙄🙄 people also seem to have got used to sitting at home doing bugger all for 80% salary, unions being unions means getting back to normal will be a nightmare. glad I’m out of here in July. It's a tough one, I'm quite relaxed about it (I'd let them cuddle / hold her now) but my Wife is more of a rule follower! Yes it's a tough one for sure. I suppose once the number of cases goes down massively then the odds of someone being infected also goes down which would hopefully help with the risk. I’ve said this all along and often been derided for it. It’s stands to reason that in the early days it wouldn’t have been picked up, nobody would’ve suspected a few extra pneumonia cases and it would’ve easily slipped through the net in most countries. Not to mention that it was probably in China maybe as early as October or certainly November, then in the globalised world we live in for nobody to travel from China with it to other parts of the world between November - January would’ve been some sort of miracle. Aye, must mean the numbers who have had it with no/mild symptoms is much higher than first thought. My grandad had a really nasty respiratory virus over Christmas that took him a good 3 weeks to shake. Just makes me wonder now if that was it? Looking back, his symptoms were identical, He's very healthy and he never needed to go to hospital, but he was really struggling with it. Always thought it was too early, but if the virus has potentially been around earlier than we thought, then who knows. Hope so, at least, because it (hopefully) could mean he's got some immunity to it!
Wellyboot
my dad's absolutely convinced he had it in December, felt absolutely rotten for 2 weeks coughing and a fever and really achey but at the time just put it down to a bug or something. Maybe he did!

We need a decent and widely available antibody test to confirm, but ultimately the earlier it was here the better really. I know it’s all anecdotal but I know so many people who have had similar things to your grandad. I mean some of them could’ve been flu, but the last time I actually had flu was at least 10 years ago. For most fit healthy people they don’t get flu every year, they get it every so often. If it was here in December or even January, the fact that our peak was in April means that hopefully easing lockdown should be that much easier in terms of doing so and avoiding a bigger spike.
