Had a similar situation in the past - age gaps can be tough!

On a side note- your username got the Arcade Fire song in my head and I'm going to put The Suburbs on while making dinner! (Assuming that's where the name came from??)

Yes of course, one of my favourite albums 😍

i think today is just a shit day. Cases up, deaths up, unwanted landmark reached, tests down. Even the hospital admissions seem to be leveling out where they seemed to be on a downward trend before. Easing of restrictions not for weeks and when they do happen look like being fairly limited for the UK.

I do take pleasure in seeing Pictures of the Spanish and Italians out and about, but also fear that we are more behind than we ever feared now.

According to niall Ferguson, you're immune if you've had it

It’s incredible really isn’t it. I live on my own and haven’t once seen any friends or family since lockdown started, like the vast majority of us on here I’m sure. I’m also not working so plenty of time to get bored etc. You’d assume he’d be a very busy man, and not really have time to entertain his mistress. Even though he probably is immune and the risk of anything happening would be minimal or non existent... but surely it crossed his mind that he needs to lead by example. If i decided to do the same thing nothing would actually happen to me, yet he’s currently massively in the public eye and being caught would lead to him losing his job and all involved being publicly humiliated. The mind boggles as to how people’s minds work, and this isn’t a stupid footballer with more money than sense either, this is a highly intelligent individual who should be extremely busy at the moment.

It’s that last sentence that gets me ‘considers the households to be one’. Well I consider you to be an utter bellend.

To be fair they had a lockdown where they weren't even allowed outside for a walk

And this is the guy the government has relied on to give us accurate predictions that have dramatically affected all of us for years to come, also a mathematical modeller chooses someone called staats, what are the chances?

First socially distanced concert to take place next week in Arkansas. Venue capacity reduced By 80%. This is the beginning and a lot of venues are going to be doing similar things.  Seating plan is a joke. Couldve spaced it out more and gave single seat attendees a space. And youre forced to by any row of seats.

News from the frontline:

Mrs Lycra has gone 2 shifts without a death. New patient intake rate is low and most beds are taken with patients who have been in for several weeks.

The situation is improving but it feels strange, almost wrong, to say that because of the numbers lost.

Guess we could all do with a break from Covid 19 but we can't. I don't know when the shit will end but I go with reality not speculation. We both want our life back, we both want to go on a holiday and we both want to go to a fest again, principally  GLASTONBURY. Stay safe and he'll beat this. If we don't........ then there will be no Glasto 2021......simples!

That was me and my tinfoil hat is fitting nicely 😂. I'm a definite conspiracy theorist and I know most of what I say is pretty mental and likely untrue - misguided devil's advocate a lot of the time.

The government are there for business and that's how the Western world works - theres nothing we can do about it and I'm not naive enough to think I can to be honest.

We need a vaccine, and there's nothing we can do about that either. There won't be microchips or any kind of tracking devices in in it, it'll just get us back to normal...the unequal and unethical normal we have here in the west. The type that makes the rich richer and the poor poorer. Not good, just how it is

Deaths are up but in English hospitals they're down from the same time last week by 180 and over 50% down from the same day two weeks ago.

Things are going in the right direction. Look at the trends not anyone day.

I don't know much about vaccines or microchips, but these links don't seem to be saying anything about vaccines having microchips or tracking devices. Just that they're developing vaccines that will leave a "mark" (visible under infra red light) so healthcare workers will know who's been vaccinated. And it's not about the covid vaccine.

It's not an active tracking device but it is a way in which you can be monitored, for example in order to travel you would be scanned to check if you were vaccinated, it's also possible that in time the mark could be personalised so you could be uniquely identified. Again a way of monitoring and control. The article is from last year so not relevant (yet) to any covid vaccine but it is a worrying development given the recent reduction in human rights particularly in China.
