To be fair, the government have given me £10k and will pay 80% of my wages for me to stay at home.  I'm not even allowed to work! I class that as good news!

And I have marked your card accordingly

Hello GregsyA,

I've been sent the link below. Maybe you'd want to give it a go. No harm in trying;

http://www.londonplaywrightsblog.com/?p=16608

All the best. :)

That's really thoughtful. All my corona-based writing efforts have been rhyming though. Here's the other one (I realise this is getting very self-indulgent but I hope you enjoy it.

This too shall pass

Covid 19, first hit the scene, towards the end of Jan.

It seemed remote, it was, to quote, “a problem in Wuhan”.

Now two months on, this thing has gone, from something niche to mass.

Although it’s spread, just keep your head. Whisper,

“this too shall pass”.

Folk storm the aisle, as they stockpile: a Waitrose muesli fight.

What did we choose? Well, mainly booze.  The nation’s pissed each night.

We’ve lost control, no toilet roll, a right pain in the ass.

We must get wiser, use sanitiser, and pray,

“this too shall pass”.

While home-based work, seemed like a perk, I’ve quickly changed my tune,

as I displace her personal space. I think she’ll kill me soon.

Sit in my room, and chat on Zoom. Productive? No. Alas.

There’s one relief, commuting’s brief. So sing,

“this too shall pass”.

And now school’s out, without a doubt, we’ll slowly go insane.

We feel quite cross, that teaching’s loss, will soon be Fortnite’s gain.

No more talk please, of GCSE’s, they’ve done their final class.

It’s Netflix time, as we all chime, each day,

“this too shall pass”.

Some still hang out. What’s that about? That helps it circulate.

Don’t be a dick, make people sick, instead do something great.

Distance yourself, for all our health, and show a bit of class.

Reach out. But stay, inside each day. And shout,

“this too shall pass!”

Right now it’s bleak, gets worse each week, the growth is exponential,

But it will end. And lets not pretend - our acts are consequential.

Be kind, show heart. Be close, apart. This evening raise a glass,

To be our best. To pass this test. And know:

This too shall pass.

I stand corrected on my £10,000 statement ... anyway back to the good news .... this came through while I was on my walk and I had to stop and read it back .... how on earth? wow ... incredible were some of my early thoughts .....

A 106-year-old great-grandmother, thought to be Britain's oldest patient to recover from coronavirus, has been discharged from hospital.

Nice one GregsyA.

I shall show that to her indoors.

I only mentioned that competition, as I thought that you might be interested in doing something non rhyming. I might give it a go myself, just for something to do, really. I might wait until I have a smoke to do that though, as that's when I'm able to write as I'd like to. In the clear light of day, much of it is shite, but there are occasional nuggets. So, I find, if you don't write 'everything' down then you don't have any choice. Mind you, some people have access to a fit for purpose memory that helps in that area. I do not, unfortunately.

In what I really hope will be the final update on this topic, mate has been discharged from hospital and is back home :)

So there we go.  In 2 weeks you can go from an induced coma on a ventilator to being back at home. Keep the faith brothers and sisters 👍

Happy to hear about your mate being discharged Quark.

The other bit is really a quite frightening prospect.

It is, but at the same time it is good to know that being in that state isn't automatically a death sentence!  I know what you mean though, came as a massive shock.

It's Friday at least!  It's also Mrs P's birthday which means we've had both our birthdays and anniversary in lockdown!

Happy birthday Mrs P!  Both my wife's and my best mate's birthdays have been in the lockdown, not sure either of them really appreciated this one :D

Cheers Quark.  We've just got to make the most of it.  She can't even drink so I'll have to make up for it later!!  :drinks:

You'll do us proud I'm sure.

Group of us from work are replicating the occasional Friday post-work visit to Croydon BoxPark later with houseparty and an online game of cards against humanity :D

It's my mother's 90th in 2 weeks and all the plans we had are now out of the window. She's at home on her own but holding up remarkably well.

Fingers are still crossed for my daughter's wedding in August.

I do feel for all the people who have special occasions they have missed out on, big birthdays, weddings etc, hopefully they can all be celebrated when it's over.
