How about...

Massive Attack / Thom Yorke

London Grammar

Wolf Alice with BBC

Disclosure (Friday night before R&L)

Wasn't there info that Thom Yorke has cancelled all his tour dates for this year?

They'll have booked their acts ages ago and don't see why they would book a more expensive act than planned at a time when it should be easy to sell tickets through pent-up demand.

Have also never booked an act as big as them.

And the Killers are in the US - will they be able to travel?

No chance really...

That's a fair point about booking ages ago.

Another band you'd have to think are well in with a chance are Royal Blood. New album, surely more than big enough to headline. Would possibly have already had it signed up a while ago

Having never booked an act as big as them doesn't mean they can't. If this was some festival that had been running for 20 years and we knew how it worked then fair enough, but there's no reason why they can't go bigger. As for travel: it's possible by then that it'll be allowed... US now has about 17.6% vaccinated and hopefully it'll be a lot more come the end of August.

No.  There's every reason they won't go for such a big act.

  • They haven't in the past
  • They don't have the same capacity as the sorts of venues The Killers play at, and have other major stages on at the same time reducing the capacity even more for the main stage
  • The festival has sold out days with cheaper acts
  • There's been no festival for 2 years. Demand has gone up.
  • And now there are only 3 days to choose from. All of them should now sell out.

And whilst it's possible travel will be allowed, it's not certain.

The Killers aren't going to travel all this way for one small gig and won't want to take the risk that it wont' be possible

Yeah their MO seems to be spread the money relatively deep down the lineup and have someone at about Other stage headliner level topping the bill. Unless there’s new management and they want to completely reinvent the festival, I can’t see then getting someone capable of filling a Stadium.

Okay yeah I agree with the rest of that,  and it is indeed unlikely theyd play, but "They haven't in the past" still isn't really a reason. People thought the Stones would never play Glasto either.

That's not a fair comparison IMO.

The Rolling Stones didn't not play Glastonbury because they were the wrong sized act.

And the Killers are simply too big an act right now for a festival the size of APE e.g. they're even being supported on their latest tour by a Stadium act (Manic Street Preachers).

Gorillaz maybe? I have a feeling they might push their tour to late summer. Playing „Mini-Werchter“, APE, headline shows.

Playing the o2 in August which hasn't sold out. Seems unlikely.

Are QOTSA a Reading/Leeds exclusive?
