Can't believe JWP isn't going.

It’s safely not coming home, Southgate has realised Mings is a glorified bin man that’s left footed and so added cover in when he inevitably stamps on an opposition strikers head or makes his 15th mistake in the first half hour against Croatia. Should’ve always been Godfrey and White over Mings and Coady regardless of experience and if Maguire isn’t fit why is he going.

JWP should’ve then been the swap for Trent. It’s pathetic quite frankly to be going to a tournament with 5CBs, 3RBs and 2LBs, with only 5 CMs, one of which last played CM for his club before Christmas, and 2 of the other 4 are defensive minded.

Southgate has us playing defensive football when we have an embarrassment of riches up top, and I’m not saying we go all out attack. Just slightly more positive than the 5/3/2 he’s bound to play

Would WP actually play?

I hope White's call up is because Southgate has realised Mings is useless.

If we were chasing a goal in a knockout game, he is a great option to bring on no? With Kane up top we will win set pieces?

We have plenty of set piece takers though. If we were a goal down in a knockout game with 20 minutes to go people would lose their shit at the prospect of Ward-Prowse coming on.

I don’t think we even need to set up ultra defensive - if we had a back 4 of: Walker/Trippier, Maguire (assuming he is fit), Stones and Chilwell/Shaw. Add in Rice as a shield ahead of them too. They are all established PL players for top 6 clubs, who have all have great seasons.
I think we really should be playing as many of the talented match winners at the top of the field, to cause oppositions defence’s a real problem.

I think he would, he’s a solid player, can keep a very good work rate and quality for a full 90 and can deliver that piece of dead ball brilliance needed to break a deadlock.

and that’s why I think he’s bought him in, Mings is dog shit quite frankly, he makes way too many mistakes and will be found out against semi decent opposition, just look at his body check on the Austrian striker the other night, wtf is that about

And Calvert Lewin is like a salmon. If we’re 1-0 fown in the last minute, I’d much rather have JWP standing over a free kick with Kane in the box

But the problem is we won’t, he’s not taking that many defenders/DMs to play a 4/3/3. The squad screams of 5/3/2 or 5/4/1 and play for the 1-0s. It’s going to be drab and I lose more and more confidence on a daily basis

The problem will be the praise we get for doing well, we’ll scrape out the group get to the quarters and narrowly lose to better opponents and Southgate will be given the keys to London

Oh I know we won’t, we’re definitely setting up for 3 at the back, and almost certain to start that way vs Croatia. Probably will stick with it then too. Which I would understand if we had a genuine weakness at the back and he wanted protection in numbers, but as I say, I don’t think it’s that weak at all. All top quality and established players who are on the back of strong team and individual seasons too.
Such a shame (and a waste of talent) that only two of Sancho, Foden, Grealish, Mount, Rashford, Sterling will get the chance to start at the same time.

Exactly, he can name all these players, but the fact is he either chops and changes game in game out or settles on a starting 11 and gives too little game time to lots of our better players

So how do the Scottish people fancy your chances? I think Scotland will enter the new territory of the knockouts.

Wales are in a tough group, I can't see us winning a game.

If we can nick a win in our first game then yeah we could get out the groups for the first time ever. 2 games at home helps and we’ve only lost 2 in 16 under Clarke.

He’s got us organised and we’ve got leaders all over the park. He seems to have found a way to play with Tierney and Robertson down the left and they can run all day.

With a bit of luck and the other results going our way we could sneak through to the knockout round.

Ive managed to get a ticket for Monday so fingers crossed we get off to a flyer.

My prediction (feel free to quote when I'm inevitably wrong ) is Scotland make the QF. As mad as that seems Northern Ireland nearly did in the last Euros.

I remember in Euro 2016 going into it thinking I just want to see a goal, then that turns to a win and the momentum comes.

Here’s hoping your right mate. Very excited for Monday. We’re supposed to be in 2 hours before ko, every ticket comes with a 30minute slot for entry. Assume that will be the same at all the games.

Who do you think will win it?

There is a MOTD Top 10 thing on iPlayer and Shearer, Richards and Lineker said France, Portugal and Belgium/England.

I can see Italy doing well and the Euros has a history of surprise contenders.

Impossible to look past France for me, their squad is insanely talented. Their 2nd XI would probably have a chance of winning it too! If they turn up and play anything like their best, then I don’t think anybody can stop them.

But agree with Italy being dark horses (if you can call them that) - Mancini has got them well drilled. Don’t think the Belgium side will do much, I think their ‘golden age’ of a couple of years ago is starting to fade due to a mixture of players aging, being out of form or injured.

Yeah my ticket for Wembley has the same, got to be there 60-90 mins before kick off.

Chilwell or Shaw, who do we reckon?

For me, it’s Chilwell. Top boy.

Chilly, for me. Hasn't put a foot wrong for Chels this year, has been solid. I know Shaw found decent form and there is probs club bias in my mind. I wouldn't be uncomfortable with either starting tbh.
