I don't think we realise how fundamental that is to working class voting habits. It's like Italians being priced out of pasta. Kinda like that worldwide right? McDonald’s has gone from being incredibly cheap and affordable to pretty pricey - no more dollar menu ect.

MilkyJoe
Did Macron just intentionally refer to trumps criminal convictions? French leader Emmanuel Macron has congratulated Donald Trump on his apparent victory. "Congratulations President Donald Trump," he said in French on X. "Ready to work together as we have done for four years. "With your convictions and with mine. With respect and ambition. "For more peace and prosperity." He’s run on a campaign of revenge and now has the Presidency, House, and Senate and absolutely nothing to lose. Maybe it won’t be as extreme as some are expecting, but it isn’t gonna be pretty.

Apparently they all had dinner and got on all very well and Lammy even got offered seconds which means Trump likes him Starmer and Trump so different though, and with Trump it's all about deals that suits his side, so that will be the relationship. charlierc
Americans are just forgiving of Donald Trump huh. f**king hell. Already wondering how long they give it before they regret it. My sympathies to the world's comedians who ran out of jokes on this guy in 2018 and now have to find another four years of gags.

I mean I don't really go to McDonald's but I'm aware the prices are much higher than they were four years ago here, let alone over there. Not wanting to punish the people who didn’t vote for him, but I really hope his economic plan is as disastrous as many people have predicted and the people who voted for him suffer because of it. charlierc
Anyone else toying with deleting their Twitter/X account? I know it's a small and futile gesture but this result is going to encourage it to be worse and the last 2 years have already seen it deteriorate in quality. steviewevie
European countries will have to get used to not being reliant on US for security, which will mean increased defense spending which will be difficult for many, including us

He may well get lucky, inflation down and interest rates being cut..jobs market not looking so good though. Business may do well, lower taxes and regulations etc...but there might be even more poison in public life if that's possible, and then there's women's rights and those of migrants... Nope, but in a couple of days it’s going to be set for only people I follow. That ‘for you’ tab is toxic.
steviewevie
Also...the polls were wrong again. Instead of supposedly correcting from previous elections they seem to be even worse, underestimating the Trump vote.
