It all sounds pretty consistent with stuff I've read elsewhere previously to be fair.

it's a loose use of 'asset' tho.

From what's in that article it's more the case that Trump and the KGB were sometimes of the same opinion (tho not necessarily for the same reasons).

If this were not true, it would be slander / libel of the highest order. But I guarantee Trump does not sue.

I cannot think of an example of Trump's behaviour toward Russia and Putin that would be distinguishable from the behaviour of an asset. ie.

Defending Putin against claims of election interference in contradiction to his own intelligence sources.

Ignoring Russian bounties on US Soldiers

Ignoring the recent Russia hack of US entities.

Asking Russia live on TV to hack Clinton's e-mails.

His son and his son in law openly admitting to having a meeting in Trump Tower with Russians, asking them to get the e-mails.

Selling the first suite in Trump Tower to the brother of the head of the Russian mafia.

Having a Russian mafia agent, after a months long search of the country found holed up in Trump Tower.

(Those are the ones off the top of my head.)

Having private one-on-ones with Putin and not recording the content of the discussions (which is usual practice when talking to any head of state).

Giving away classified info to Russian ambassadors In the Oval Office.

Offering Assange a pardon on the condition that he disavowed the Russian involvement with the aforementioned hack of the DNC. Assange did not get the pardon.

Giving Roger Stone a pardon.

Giving Paul Manafort a pardon.

Giving Putin's ex-comms advisor a job in the White House.

Caught up with the latest QAnon pod this morning and it's a good listen. They start off by outlining the premise of that When Prophecy Fails/cognitive dissonance book and then start looking into how various QAnon types have been dealing with their prophecy failing last week.

surely he just won't turn up, and will pretend it's not happening or that it doesn't have the right to try him?

He'll 100% be playing golf on the day the trial begins.

I wonder if he'll hire a lawyer from an ad? It's so weird that lawyers have TV ads in America.

He'll show, cant keep away from being on tv. The ratings will be insane if he does show and is his own defense. Plus you can subpeona him and if he doesnt show then he can get arrested, what would be something.

Tragically, there can be no defence whatsoever and still most Republicans will vote to acquit.

There is another route being taken that will remove his ability to run for office again.

Ill say this right now, there is going to be so much evidence showing how deep the GOP is involved, especially members of congress  and the senate that  nobody is gonna be able to spin their way out of it. The FBI doesnt care who you are cause theyre gonna show what really happened on jan 6th. Who is to say they arent ready to charge members of the government,  cause they can and will do it.  Lets see how the country handles being told that the gop wanted to install a dictatorship.

Suing people is big business here, so you gotta go with the billboard or tv attorney to get you your money, especially in injury cases. Live in a place that his such high vehicular accidents and drunk driving that its just part of everyday life to be able to find a lawyer.

I'll take a guess. Same as most countries handle partisan politics, that their 'tribe' is beyond reproach?

Itll be an impartial agency making the case. Like I said, lets see them  get out of this when an agency of the government is going to drop the hammer on them and not be afraid of the fallout. Theyre going to attack the fbi? Good luck with that.

We have a government department called ACC (Accident Compensation Corporation) that you pay levies to as part of your taxes and car registration. People can make claims for any injuries (falling down stairs, crashes, sports injuries). You also can't sue anyone in New Zealand.

Interestingly (well I think anyway) is that New Zealand is the only country besides the USA that allows drug companies to advertise on TV. They don't have to say the side effects out loud though, just that you need to talk to your GP.

Yes, we’re all hoping for a Jack Nicholson “You can’t handle the truth!” Style meltdown in the court room, but I think this is closer to what will happen.
