Wouldn't AOC petrify many US voters, as she's probably seen as too left?

Not my view, I really like her.

Yeah AOC isn’t going to be running for a long time unless she stands on a more centrist platform, which defeats the point. A bit hilarious to think the US would have AOC as a presidential candidate after what we’ve been watching today.

It’s not really about the “best they can muster” though. It’s about who will beat Trump, and Biden was deemed to be most likely. It doesn’t mean there aren’t exciting and progressive dems out there, just not prudent to put them up against Trump.

yeah...I've heard quite a few interviews with people who voted for Trump because they thought Biden was too left wing!

Are they still counting in Michigan?  Haven't seen an update for a while but there's about 600k to go and only 67k in it.

Yeah The Guardian have updated numbers recently.

Unfortunately Trump’s loud propaganda on Joe being a gateway to the radical left at both his rallies and all over twitter seems to have been listened to and not fact checked by many.

This election is really a fight between the educated and the not so educated.

Biden being a communist is one of the biggest cons in history. It’d be hilarious if it wasn’t so worrying. That argument has probably won Trump Florida.

The trend is continuing and it’s looking good for Biden.

Fuck me, this is a rollercoaster ride.  I crashed about 4am, starting to feel concerned, woke at 8:30 and felt even more glum, went back to sleep for a bit and now I'm not sure what the fuck is going to happen.  One thing is for sure, the fact that Trump has polled so strongly just makes America look even more polarised and divided to me.  Going to be an interesting few days.

I'm not sure how I'll feel when this all ends, me and CNN have become very close over the last 12 hours.

CNN's coverage has been so good, the guy they had on during the night (Jon King?) was like a machine! Had the stats straight away as soon as the other rather shouty anchor would ask him. Very impressive

I like AOC...but you actually think she'd win in places like Florida?

I’m hoping that the sleepy one can lay some groundwork and winkle the angle open a little for a leftist manifesto.

In the end though I think AOC would walk the democratic nomination and I think the presidential election is as much a popularity contest as anything and she is popular and charismatic. She will dominate amongst ethnic minorities, women, young and could easily count on the middle ground if the republicans stay to the far right. It would be a different kind of election but I do think she’d win yes. Maybe with someone like O’Rourke as running mate. But... 4 years is a long time in politics.

Sums up Britain and America in one sentence

Between brexit, trump, Johnson and the lack of coronavirus compliance I'd say the not so educated (look how polite we're being...) are winning pretty strongly. To be fair there are a lot more of them..
