I got the feeling it was a mildish attempt at provoking violence, and that if he doesn't get it he'll be more explicit next time.

Yeah I agree. I don't think we can just ignore him sadly as I think he is trying to start something pretty unpleasant.

I particularly like the ones where they name the drugs you may currently be on and just blatantly tell you to ask your doctor to switch you to the one being advertised. Haven't lived in the US for a while (and Netflix has put the kibosh on watching live TV when I'm there unless there's a ball game on), so don't know if they are allowed anymore. For all its recent madness though, I do still love the place!

Dc legalized psychedelics. And Oregon legalized magic mushroom therapy along with the drugs. Colorado ended its ban on pit bulls. Rhode Island considered changing its name.

He’s only down by 463 votes right now with a bunch more left to be counted, and so far the new ballots have mostly favoured Biden so he’ll undoubtedly overtake Trump in the next update.

Some of the networks last night (MSNBC and CNBC) actually interrupted Trump's speech to point out all the claims were lies. Great move in my opinion. I worry about how many people will just take what he is saying as fact just because the president said it on the news.

Any idea on timeframes for anything being announced today?

Theyre still counting right now and the last couple updates were big chunks ( relative to the number ). And its going to be from larger voting areas that put votes to the tally. So maybe an hour at most and Biden overtakes.

 

nevada is going to look like a bunch of idiots when they decided to announce their votes this weekend after PA and GA decide the election. Although Ga will enter an automatic recount since the margin will be 0.5% or less.

Here’s an update on the count situation in Georgia from CBS News. They report:

The two counties with the largest number of ballots left to count were Gwinnett, with 4,800 ballots and Clayton, with 4,355. By 2 a.m. some counties had ceased counting for the night — but not Clayton County, part of the home district of the late John Lewis, where Biden is winning roughly 85% of the vote to Mr. Trump’s 14%. With 95% of its vote in, Clayton County was still turning in batches of votes, a couple hundred at a time and some people, including former senator Claire McCaskill, seemed pleased by the idea that it was a county represented by the late civil rights icon that just might put Biden over the top in Georgia.

Clayton County Supervisor of Elections Shauna Dozier told CNN that as of 1:27 am, Clayton County had 3,500 absentee ballots to count out of 30,000 absentee ballots that had been accepted in the county.

“We’re going to stay here until every single absentee ballot is counted,” Dozier told CNN. “ We’re doing our best to get every vote counted,” she continued, adding that she believes the county will be completed within hours and asks the community for patience.

Iconic civil rights leader and Democratic congressman John Lewis died in July, aged 80.

Our family on the Jersey shore (all voted Trump) are vocally proclaiming on Facebook that it's all corrupt. I don't engage generally when it comes to politics as we both know we disagree completely and they are lovely people, so if it ever comes up, I just nod and change the subject! (I almost had them agreeing to socialised medicine once though!).

Give it an hour maybe for more Georgia stuff? Pennsylvania wont have more concrete  info til the morning there. And one county has 35,000 ballots to count so thatll eat away at the current margin and make a Biden overtake likely by mid morning or mid day if they ramp up counting. Nevada said saturday or sunday. Arizona will get to it in the morning but itll be early evening for you cause of time zone.

Yeah, It's been about 10 years since I was last there, but I've spent a fair bit of time before then (not lived though, but did do a few long trips, 2-3 months at a time) and yeah, same, love the place. I do worry though that it has changed too much in the last 10 years and I wouldn't feel the same if I went back. I've got good friends there who were and are great, but I think about some of the people I met, many of whom were very different to me, politically, religiously, socially but were still lovely, kind, welcoming, friendly, interesting (and interested) or even just someone I could have a good debate with over a beer. There's a few of them that I could imagine getting caught up in Trumpism and fully embracing it
