Isn't there sort of unwritten Glasto rule where if you become big off the back of a contrived primetime "talent" show then Glasto just isn't for you? I remember James Arthur banging on about "Glasto snobbery" a few years back because he was butt hurt he has never asked to play despite his chart success. I'm pretty sure a good chunk of Harry's set is One Direction hits and although they were internationally huge, it's still X Factor sh*te. Maybe there's exceptions who have played in previous years who I can't think of?

He plays 1 song during his set which is from one direction out of 22 songs

There’s no point trying to look at precedent for talent show contestants playing Glastonbury as Harry Styles is 10x more of a cultural phenomenon than any previous act of that nature. If they were able to get him in a non-headline slot they wouldn’t think twice, and it would go down amazingly.

Even as a headliner I could see him being booked but not this year because of his dates (unless Billie Eilish banjaxes her tour).

Logistics wise its an easy play. He has 2 days off before and after Ireland, so he isnt fatigued in any way, shape or form. He headlines Saturday night, then jets off to Germany to do a back to back which he then has 2 more days off afterwards. He certainly will have a production that is adapted for a festival with Coachella in 2 1/2 months thus creating an easy template for Glastonbury and making it a non issue for the tour in itself since theyll be different. Just gotta transport some backline, musicians and crew, done and done. Billie Eilish is coming in from Germany and then will be performing 3 dates in a row, but nobody is concerned with that apparently because Glasto is first.  Considering there have been more extreme circumstances of artists flying halfway around the world to make the festival in a small time frame ( Babymetal 2019 ) this one is fairly easy but keeps pushing people into a state of denial cause they wanna find a way to make it untrue. 👋🏻

Out of interest - when the lineup is announced at the end of the month and there is a big quiffy Harry Styles shaped hole in it, will you be cancelling your ticket and going to Coachella instead?

It's not true until you can find a way to prove it isn't, Supre. All we have is a report from the Daily Star (!), which has then been reported on by the Daily Mail (!!), and Neil has an unverified hunch his people may have planted the stories. The stories don't even mention him headlining, just performing. We know Coachella were forced to try and find a replacement act at the eleventh hour and were reduced to Harry, but Glastonbury won't be so desperate.

If he does play, given he knows how culturally massive Glastonbury is, I think he'd gratefully take a sub slot, especially under someone like Billie Eilish. If he insists on headlining, I think he'll have to wait - his unlikely rise to headline the biggest festivals in the world won't have been on anyone's radar in 2020, and they'll have had backups upon backups waiting in the wings before considering Harry.
