Well my mother knows King Kunta and i. And she loves them.

What are Kendrick's most well-know hits? HUMBLE, King Kunta, LOVE, i, Swimming Pools, Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe, All The Stars, Alright?

I'd say M.A.A.D. City, DNA, ELEMENT or Money Trees are top material too.

No he didn’t - it was a good set just very short (not even an hour i think or maybe just over). I was pretty impressed, not sure i care enough to see him again over some of the other potential options (bicep, glass animals, caribou, psb would all be easy other choices)

Are we talking about the same set? He’s got a band here:

But sometimes we don’t know the unknown unknowns. Or even the unknown knowns.

Look - I’m not against discussing options. What I’m against is people deliberately stoking delirium, baiting others for being boring with their predictions, calling people cowards and liars at a drop of a hat, and completely dominating discussions.  Really sucks the fun out of this place for me.

You’re sounding a bit Glasto chat to me right now, that basically the only bands that can headline Glastonbury are your  Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Green Day etc.

Heres my answer - A beatle, Taylor Swift, and Diana would have absolutely packed that crowd. Sprinkle Aerosmith on top too and there’s a few acts in there which would have some seriously huge crowds. If you don’t think those acts could easily pull 100k on el pointo each you are out of touch.

There was absolutely nothing in their post about bands like the ones you've listed - you've jumped to that because you didn't agree with the comment and wanted to have a pop. Seems to be driven by the chip on your shoulder you seem to have when it comes to rock bands like that. I happen to agree with you (and others before you) about McCartney packing out the field, but your comments here are so misplaced and you're doing it very regularly.

Also, as it's related, you don't have to keep doing this anti-bands, pro-artists of TikTok fame for the younger generation thing. It's tiresome and self-indulgent when you try to make every conversation on this forum about it. You're on social media and in touch with what young people like, we get it, so give it a rest.

Macca? I mean, who else would meet your standards of absolutely massive headliner if not a former Beatle?

A generational thing. I wouldn't consider him a massive headliner personally. Think the Beatles are the greatest and most consequential rock band of all time but none of my friends are hyped about him headlining.

Hes not in the forefront of the music industry now.

I’ll give you the Beatle but Taylor Swift blows Billie Eilish into the next century and Kendrick Lamar is no where near as well known in the UK as the Arctic Monkeys or Radiohead, two of the biggest bands in the UK if not the world. As this thread has proved.

Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys are repeat headliners though, Radiohead did it two festivals ago and they don't exactly have mainstream pull do they? I'd say Radiohead and Kendrick are a similar sort of booking, both critically acclaimed and massive artists in a certain demographic. I'm a huge Radiohead fan and have only listened fleetingly to Kendrick, but it's clear that Kendrick's current output is held in the highest claim the same way Radiohead's earliest output was. They're completely different genres but somewhat comparable in that sense.

Just because a band is well known doesn't mean they're a great booking. Especially if they're headlining for the 3rd or 4th time. Eilish/McCartney/Kendrick is a really good mix. Most people lauded 2020's headline trio as the strongest yet, and there's only 1 change from that in Swift to Eilish.

In terms of name value then 2016 was huge, but Adele aside wasn't really that intriguing as Muse and Coldplay had both played the festival plenty of times before.

Someone hasn't seen Get Back.

Doesn't really matter if an act like Paul McCartney is at the forefront of anything these days, he's a bona fide living legend, anyone with even the slightest passing interest in music knows who he is and can name at least a dozen songs he's been involved with. He transcends bullshit words like "relevance" and will draw a huge crowd, especially as people will be acutely aware that there aren't likely to be many more chances to see him.

I'm not debating McCartney will pull a massive crowd but i'm not sure anyone in my group can name a dozen songs he's been involved with, myself included. Other than the biggest Beatles songs and the one with Rihanna i'm struggling.

So what you are saying is you can name 12 songs.

Why not do a deeper dive into the Beatles? They are popular for a reason and you might come to realise you are one of the 100's of millions of people who like them

I'd be shocked if anyone posting on here couldn't name a dozen Beatles songs.

Hey Jude, AYNIL, Help, Can't Buy Me Love, Let It Be, Yesterday, hell even Yellow Submarine - these are some of the most famous and iconic songs ever written.

I certainly will, I was simply saying that not everyone does know them even if they do have an interest in music.

edit: and no i cannot name 12 songs

Ditto.

I realised I’d made the mistake at around 120 seconds into the set, when he was still looping all the necessary parts to the song before he could actually start.

At least you can admit your error. I have a mate who still claims Ed was what he needed that night after so much partying and was the right decision, despite him having no interest in Ed prior and being a big electronic music fan.

In a way I'm jealous. I'd love to hear all the Beatles songs for the first time again, if that was somehow possible.

I'd advice to listen to the 1 album, it's a compilation of all their number 1's. I'm sure you will recognise a lot of the songs

Oh and Get Back of course, shouldn't have forgotten that.
