kingcrawler
Noel’s an interesting one. He only seems to bother playing things in the UK where he headlines, to the point that he plays relatively small events rather than playing big festivals, so him agreeing to sub in 2020 was presumably at least partially influenced by playing before Macca. I’d be surprised to see him play before Harry Styles and equally I reckon he’d prefer to be on the Pyramid. If Macca’s out then I’m not really expecting Noel either. "By the way its happening" (which isn't news), or "here's another young band who won a competition we're giving a slot to." Doesn't live up to the delivery method. It has to be an exciting new act/headliner at the very least. Radio 2 is the biggest station in the country… even Radio 4 gets more listeners than Radio 1. ModBoy
Going from Kenny/Macca/TS in 2020 which people saw as one of the best set of headliners but didn't do a fat lot for me to whatever we end up with here, can only make for a good read today. Still a part of me saying The 1975 and then watching this forum lose their minds
Hugh Jass
I go into a meeting for an hour and come back to discover Macca is gone!!! Fuck's sake! Going for a run shortly, expecting to get back to hear Kendrick's fucked off too.

Could this finally be the year Glasto get Fleetwood Mac? That would cheer a lot of people up who were disappointed about losing Macca. Remember this 👀 Think Emily ruled them out for 2020 later in the year though

Gilgamesh69
My friend has an aunt who walks the dogs for Elton while he's away. One of them was telling her that he'll be on the Pyramid on Saturday afternoon, something of a second legends slot to appease the older people put off by the young headliners. Kings of Leon, Jay-Z, The Verve? How long had the Verve been going when they headlined? 1997? Radiohead, The Prodigy, Ash? Weren’t they all relatively new at the time? The Verve’s first album came out in 1993, and they were on a reunion tour.

zero000
This is all completely bonkers. Harry Styles potentially headlining, the personification of breaded ham, Axl Rose and the lads on Sunday? Madness. Macca May be out but I wouldn’t rule out Kendrick atm. Not until after the Super Bowl at least.

Especially at peak time for R1. Last time Emily went on the one show with no news it was to promote the book. If it was about the emerging talent competition they would have said. It wouldn’t be labelled Glasto 2022 news. If it was a chat with radio 6 at a non peak time I would agree with you. But this is Emily booking a slot on prime time radio. R1 will want something exclusive for that time slot. It’s the exact same time slot that R&L use for their announcements. 7pm is not peak time radio… 7am-9am and 4pm-6pm is.
