First year I went (2004) the entire line up came out about 3 weeks before the gates opened....didn't bother me in the slightest!

One of the big things (for me at least) is that nowadays I can check out the bands I haven't heard of on Spotify or YouTube. I might have accidentally stumbled upon something good back in the day, but there was also a good chance you'd discover a band after the festival and realise you'd missed your chance to see them.

I was working as a teenager too in my first ever Saturday job at a Tesco in Oxford, my mum drove me to my shift and there were no cars about, in fact there were probably more cars about during that first wave of COVID than that day.

I used to work something like 12 noon-8pm and I served barely a soul all day.

Perhaps it was because you were in a tourist area, but I can assure you Oxford city centre had virtually no one in it!

Reminds me of when I was a student and working in Sainsburys when 9/11 happened. The whole place just totally emptied like a zombie film, then one of the staff went round telling everyone what had happened.

This exactly.  My musical knowledge is always poor so I have to get listening to as many people as possible to establish who I want to see.  And the sooner I can start that, the better.  Please and thank you Glasto.

We were DJing on Oxygen 107.9 (if you remember it) the night that she died. We were playing pretty full-on high energy dance music. Everytime we broke to go to the news, things were looking more and more bleak. All we had to play was absolutely not the sort of thing that would hold any gravitas to the situation - but we kept on having to play it. I remember that night/day like yesterday.

It's a funny one isn't it because at that point no one would have batted an eyelid I'm sure but as the years have gone by and announcements have come earlier etc. it leaves you craving everything!

I'm very much aware we live in a society now where everyone wants to know everything immediately and of course technology / social media has played a big part in the ability to get that sort of thing to people.

I don't even know what I'm trying to say 😂 we're all just bloody impatient nowadays aren't we!

Glastonbury has slowly moved it forward - its other festivals announcing before November when they usually would in January that are making everyone so impatient I think. Very few announced before January a few years ago, now you get Boardmasters in like September! Same with TRNSMT

Kicking off multiple pages of worrying that the festival will be cancelled, by randomly speculating that the queen’s about to die, is Matt42’s finest hour of rumourmongering.

I'm getting flashbacks of the year MJ died. He wasn't a child molester, you know. They found him not guilty.

For one, the BBC has a number of channels it can broadcast to. In the event of the Queen clocking off, it may that the Glasto coverage is just moved down the channel ladder.

Can you imagine the Daily Mail headline when BBC4 gets more viewers than Lizzies funeral on BBC1, especially when Harry and Megan are spotted in Silver Hayes.

today definitely feels like time for an announcement

watch it be the kids field now 😂

Seriously though i can imagine some areas still putting the finishing touches to their lineups and may need a tiny bit longer. But there must still be a couple ready to go surely like avalon were

Yup. Excited for the Block 9 announcement. I won't have heard of any of the acts and have no intention of watching any of them.
