Were there any special guests introducing the first film of 2019? Was Johnny Depps appearance for the opening in 2017 a one off celeb appearance. Obviously he is a little busy at the moment so I know he won’t be there.

Liam Gallagher introduced his docco. I imagine there was others too (I know there is Q&A's with directors, if that counts as "celeb").

I've never been in there (well, that I remember anyway) - I'm guessing they have people like Atilla the Stockbroker in there rather than whatever you call "traditional" poetry?

I've only ever been in once it converts to Mavericks at night.

Yes, lovely words and sentiments, tear jerking, especially since this coming festival might possibly be our last.

Aw you'll have to treasure every moment of it! TBH one thing the pandemic has taught me is that we should all treasure the good times as we never know when they'll be the last.

also see "cheers drive".

A few years ago guy from Gloucester moved to Oxford, and now works with one of my friends...he has subsequently become a social friend of ours too....I've been in cabs and on buses when he's said that phrase and the drivers always look a bit bemused!

It's the bristol default to a bus driver.

try being a bristolian when they talk about gert lush .... utterly bizarre

Lived in Bristol for 3 years and still work there but I've legitimately never heard anyone say 'gert lush' despite everyone telling me it's a thing

What's Mavericks all about?  I'e been going since 2007 and never heard reference to it before!

It's like a cabaret tent in the evening with tables and chairs, and (apparently) cocktails.  I can't find a photo of the inside.

Is it a place where you want to dance the night away?

Haven't you and Mrs Q done over 30?  Has she finally had enough?

We have been going together since 95. She feels it might be too much now, however,  that may all change of course after this year, she needs to be comfortable stopping at 1am. 2019 was one of our favorites.

I think after the enforced break from festivals I will defiantly be taking it easier this year. I can't hack the pace like I used to, and end up with horrendous hangovers that render me useless for most of the following day if I stay out till 4-5am.

I'll probably go heavy for one or two nights at a push but I'd prefer an early finish one night so I can function the following day, rather than going hard and then dying in my tent till the following afternoon!

Yes sometimes you don't need to stop doing something just change the way you do it. Mr Gigpusher has a long standing knee problem that he had been referred to a specialist for but COVID hit and they never contacted him and then he got a letter telling him they'd tried to contact him (they hadn't) but that he had now been removed and if he needed to be seen again he'd have to go back to his GP and be referred again. Obviously that isn't going to happen pre-Glastonbury so we think we'll have to take it easier than normal.
