Like you say every way of doing it would create problems.
Imagine the sh*t storm from people who had changed their email since registering and didn’t get the link. On second thoughts it might swing the balance back to those who obsessively check everything is in place and are desperate for tickets
It's a really miserable system to be totally honest.
You no longer have any influence and your chance of getting tickets is confirmed the moment it puts you in a queue. Still easy to game and is now easier to pay-to-win than ever, I've seen more "guaranteed slots/tickets" for sale than ever before at this stage. You can no longer help your friends as it kicks you back to the back of queue once you've purchased, meaning you have even less of a chance of getting through twice.
Worst of all, it's a ballot in all but name. Rather than forcing me to waste 30 minutes staring at 2 green bars and likely an hour doing the same again sunday, just do a proper ballot, make people pay up front and ask for more details for registration to stop people doing multiple entries.
Additionally, every year I have attended I've felt the festival has regressed from the previous year in some way or form, be it the crowd, crowd management, security, vibe or music/line up, with last year being the worst Glastonbury I've attended. Still had a great time of course and would love to return, but it's another aspect of the overall Glastonbury experience that makes me feel like it's losing its charm and my money is better spent elsewhere.
it is effectively a Ballot
which seems fairer, but with a ballot you could enter every year for ten years and never get a ticket. like I have with the London Marathon. at least the other way if you really wanted to go and did your research you could up your chances.
now it is all luck
