Its the same bogus reason when nurses / train drivers etc say they are striking to improve safety...

Its always about money.  Not that I think that is "wrong" in itself.  Just pointless to dress it up.  No one buys it.

But it isn't always about money. It usually is, but there's plenty of times at somewhere I work that is prefer they hire an extra staff member so that I work closer to only full time, over being paid more.

As frankly, even if you get overtime pay (and in many jobs you don't), you don't actually get any more take home. Going from a 50hr week to a 60hr week means spending more on takeout/taxis because you don't have time and energy to shop and cook properly. You buy the extra 2 coffees to get through the longer days.

Of course he knows that, we all know what he really means.

GPs are an utter disgrace right now.  And they are the very best paid doctors.  GP access is appalling.

Labour fucked up badly with the new gp contracts.

Not seeing patients...  Its like a fire man/women who doesn't like fire...  or a sailor who isn't crazy about water...

? Justify that …. They are under pressure like all health services …. Some things are better done via one to one some done better face to face … much of the issue is around many gps leaving due to stress and or old age . My surgery just lost 4 gps … I guess I could just blame the remaining gps for any added wait or I could understand that there aren’t enough gps coming through the system to take over .

I'm lucky where I live. Not an issue seeing GPs here, not that I go very often. I also don't mind a phone call often easier

he's chatting shite. In some places they are simply overwhelmed,  like in many parts of the NHS as you say.

Well in the end doesn't that come back to pay ?  e.g. over time not paying enough ?   or not getting it at all ?

There has never been a strike in history that didn't either come down to pay or job loses...

I mean, the more someone gets paid, the more they're willing to put up with bad conditions, but if the strike demands are saying "improve the conditions" not "improve the pay", you should pay attention to literally what's being said.

Same here Haven't had to see a GP for years but recently had cause to. First appointment within a few days (wasn't urgent), blood test the day after, results a week later and follow up two weeks after that. And my local surgery is supposedly going through some major disruption at the moment.

I am chatting shit but your man starter saying exactly the same

The nhs is broken right the way through … pandemic caused issues and changes to the way people worked and gps the same ( with new online consultations ) . Do you acknowledge a shortage of gps also being an issue ? My aunt and uncle retired shortly after pandemic one a gp .. the other a consultant . I can 100% assure you they neither was doing fuck all . And yes they were both very well paid

I just posted...   If you ask your surgery for the numbers they have to tell you.  I did...  Its a fucking joke.

So what did you actually ask ? I’m intrigued I haven’t needed it for a while … as I’ve not needed a gp … but I’ve also had no issues although I suspect that is different now with 4 leaving … I suspect with my surgery that’s now the issue … don’t even know if I’ve got an assigned gp now that’s responsible for my care as mine left amongst them .

So Nurses will now strike as with rail workers. This is what happens with 12 years of Tory rule forcing stagnant wages and lowering living standards. The Tories have no idea how to deal with any of it.

But they are saying improve the pay... by 19%...

Because over the last 14 years there's been a real terms paycut of 19%. Now the sensible compromise is to spread that rise over the next 5-8 years, instead of frontload it, but that number hasn't come from greed, it's come from people working in hospitals keeping people alive.... relying on food banks to feed themselves.
