They’re quite different live to how they are on albums: it’s a sort of bass driven groove, a massive fat wide monolith that moves the crowd, it’s a doom stoner thing, it’s great! Slowly we rot is a banger, I got it as a kid and when you spend £11 on an album and that’s your month’s pocket money you squeeze every inch out of it you possibly can, and almost force yourself to love it dammit 😁 I didnt have to try too hard with that one, to be fair, them and cannibal corpse had me sorted for deathy things when I was about 14

Went to see them in Dublin last night. Bloody fantastic! Highlights among the new tracks included Conversion (Nick is much clearer in the mix live and it was powerful), Final rescue attempt, Joy and Cinnamon Horses…but as usual, a completely engrossing performance (the new album works so well live and I thought the entire show was really well paced, so I can see why they aren’t tampering with it). Nick was in very chatty form (he has been the last few times to be honest, but this is probably the most “jovial” he’s been. He laughed a lot). Colin Greenwood has slotted in like a natural, Ellis a force of nature as usual and the backing singers superb. Anyone on the fence about going to see them on this tour, just do it, you won’t regret it!
