It’s funny how your views are now laid out in Tory policy…

Your probably not old enough to remember but Blair was labour not Tory and I never said they were my views I said he was right in that pushing the costs on to normal people would probably lose alot of support.

He was talking rubbish (hehe) it was never policy or even mentioned as one.

BUT!

it does bring up an important point, about rubbish and consumerism. We all need to stop buying so much sh*t and throwing so much sh*t away.

We also need to travel less.

We also need to eat less meat and dairy.

And vote Labour.

How? What about non recyclable plastic ? Like food covering ? Ice lolly’s etc ? Maybe our council is a bit behind . Nice 1 though

We consider carefully what we buy and if it cannot be recycled we do not buy it unless we know of a way of doing so. Lots of the non recyclable plastics are reused - some in camera 'bean bags' for example.

If ever we get packaging from a delivery order we cannot recycle (we choose who we use carefully) we send it back to them

It is hard to start with as you have to think lots and look for alternatives but once you are up and running it is easy and done without really thinking.

A lot of that sh*t is completely unnecessary and does nothing for anyone. Production should be stopped.

You regularly talk about your opposition to many net zero policies and now they’re becoming Tory policy. Thats just convenient is all I’m saying.

That's crazy - like how?

Even when I was living off-grid and growing loads of veg I never got near that.

See my post in reply to crazyfool.

It was hard at first but now is just automatic. We do not make zero landfill rubbish - though not far off it - but we do not use our black bin for it and get it reused elsewhere as much as possible - there are loads of schemes here and in nearby towns and often someone will be heading to one and collects other peoples stuff to take too such as blister packs.

We have contacts we know well in Kenya and when we spent lots of time there with the local tribes we learned from them how to reuse etc on so many things. Things like old shirts can make excellent insulation for example.

But if we stop buying stuff then the economy struggles. What do we do!?

In relation to the cost of the poorest. Me personally I have an electric car so obviously I'm not in opposition.

and there is the big fat elephant in the room........................

Current systems have to have growth to be able to borrow money on............................ but to get growth on the current system we have to spend and spend on anything and everything including crap nobody needs.

Under the system we have we are doomed to failure.

I may have mentioned this lots before.

Your posts give off the perception that you don’t support net zero.

Are we going to get into how green we are?

are we going to be honest?

As far as weekly rubbish goes we are as green as we can be.................. probably.

We are vegetarian and source locally as much as we can but we do buy from supermarkets lots too.

We don't do 'fashion' and wear clothes til they are really knackered and buy 2nd hand too.

We have a car (09 reg from new) but will not get another one, likely not and EV either. We will use taxis, buses, trains etc...... or walk which we do lots. Last year the car did 2500 miles ish mostly to festivals and Heathrow.

and there is the failing - Heathrow. My work takes me to Kenya so I fly.................. 2 or 3 times a year recently but reducing to 1 in 2025 and then every other year from 2027 onwards. We have  a tree grove in Scotland where we get trees planted to offset some and we invest in nature and wildlife conservation in Kenya whoihc is one reason we go as well as me being  a nature and wildlife photographer.

We are not perfect by a long long way but we try as much as w can - and on days like this I wonder why I f**king bother.
