can someone explain the difference between the Tory and Labour plans for the NHS ? both look like privatisation to me ... genuinely no idea

What is Tory plan?

And what is labour's come to that? Although labour have said would outsource some of it to private, but that kind of already happens doesn't it? My kid got treatment at a private place paid for by nhs.

both seem to want to sell it off bit by bit .... all this outsourcing means payments to shareholders and increased costs ?

There's a lot more stuff contracted out now, but a lot of that is with charities providing the services. Some of that is top quality stuff it's where the cutting edge services are coming from.

No ayment to shareholders when outsourced via a charity.

You’ve had some serious health concerns and presumably know when something needs attention and are I guess sensible enough not to abuse it. But to expect the same of the general population is wishful thinking. Your wait for your massage would go up tenfold

Also skipped GP to get specialist care for my kid. Just quicker now.

ok so the outsourcing is to companies who have taken staff from the NHS , through better pay and conditions .... they will then charge that back to the nhs ? just seems like its slow breakup ...

No medical staff taken from the NHS for the charity I'm involved with. And they give the best services that the NHS provides for stroke sfter care.

fantastic the job they do but surely this should be provided under nhs / social care rather than a charity relied on .... probably im living in cloud cuckoo land though .  sort of feels a bit like the food bank situation and the work they do

There's a fair few community interest companies with NHS contracts, and you can bet that the bosses are taking a wedge in pay

What I'm referring to has never been provided by the NHS.and the charity has been brought in cos its had strong results when working by itself outside of the NHS.

the contracted out services i've encountered

charity: bristol after stroke. providing group support, and muscle therapy (massage & physio)

cic: sirona healthcare providing community healthcare, occupational therapy (OT), physiotherapy etc. hospital management(they manage south bristol community hospital, it turned to shit when they took over while i was an inpatient).

FRENCHAY BRAIN INJURY REHABILITATION CENTRE, BRISTOL providing physio, OT, PSYCHOTHERAPY, AND (LOW LEVEL) MEDICAL care (there's a few doctors and nurses, & physios & OTs) who could work elsewhere in the nhs.

It's not that cos it's not replacing a Govt provided service.

Kind of mean the strategy on the whole. NHS being defunded, more outsourcing to private care at same time as more people not bothering with NHS but using private...or charidees. It was the plan all along.
