Latest wisdom from labour supporter Owen Jones

Genuinely think Keir Starmer and Boris Johnson are the two most dishonest frontline politicians in British democratic history

starmer is the most evil man in the history of mankind from what I can gather.

That's the corbynista opinion Which is all that Jones has to give.

Oxbridge has obviously gone downhill if people come out with a history degree and make that kind of assessment.

to be fair to jones, he did drop corbyn like a hot brick when he realised he wasn't going to win.

I've had a few arguments on twatter with starmer hating corbyn lovers and quite a few have said they want tories to win next election so starmer gets kicked out and labour becomes a proper socialist party.

Deluded I reckon. But it does pose a problem for those on the left. Do they want labour in govt and then try steer it leftwards much like what happened with tory govt over the last decade only the other way...or labour loses and starmer gets klcked out and replaced with a true socialist...maybe someone like Wes Streeting or Rachel Reeves haha.

Personally I consider myself centre left, or soft left, or social democrat or whatever. I am not that bothered about ideological purity, and I couldn't really give a fuck about jeremy corbyn (although I actually think he should be allowed to stand as a labour MP), but you have to be pragmatic. Better to be in power and try and steer things than not I reckon.

Watch this video that @Crazyfool01posted and tell me its not true

I did A level (admittedly not degree level like Owen) History. There were times when British politics was riddled (even more than now) with corruption. If we are talking most dishonest ever then even Boris probably isn’t in contention. It’s naive to think political dishonesty started with the smartphone and twitter. I have low expectations of Jones, but he should be better than this kind of sensationalist (click bait) bullshit.

I saw a polling analyst say earlier that whilst this type of thing can lead to some people not knowing what Starmer stands for ultimately people generally don’t mind politicians that change their minds.

They will do but given how the Tories have messed up the country I don’t think it’ll bother people too much.

Out of interest, if the UK electoral system switched to proportional representation, who here would still vote for Starmer’s Labour?

But also starmer's labour would likely be very different as he wouldn't necessarily be trying to woo certain parts of the electorate.

I can guarantee all the swing voters in my office will never see this video. Those getting excited on twitter will generally be conservatives (who won’t vote labour) or Corbynites (some will, some won’t).

As for Starmer being seen as a flip flopper. I think the default view of the public is all politicians are like this, I don’t see it doing much damage.
