The friend that shared the Robbie information did so before the festival was announced publically (he said there would be a festival on the town moor next summer and Robbie would be playing) and has re-iterated since that he is a definite. They also said another name they were trying for was AC/DC but obviously they will be a lot harder to book due to known logistics and demands. They also confirmed it is indeed 5 day festivals. Never been in a position before to share this kind of information but kind of excited to see if it's correct or whether I've been played.
To be fair 2023 is the only year I can remember where all 3 headliners were stadium sized. Arena acts headlining Glastonbury is the norm. Eilish, Lamar, The Cure, Killers in 2019, Stormzy, Sheeran in 2017, even Adele and Muse in 2016 were all in the middle of Arena tours.
It does seem inevitable that stadium acts doing it will be very rare in the future. The money on offer elsewhere is too much.
Let's wake up Bloodhound Gang! 😉
Amen to that. The programming last year almost seemed like they deliberately tried to divide the audience. Thursday/Friday had some nice rock-ish and novelty acts whic made me run from concert to concert, while Saturday/Sunday was more other genres represented by the likes of Jessie Ware, Janelle Monae, Sampha, Jungle, Loyle Carner, while there was hardly anything of that kind the two first days. I don't mind them booking such acts, even though it's far from my music taste and what I think RW should be (or at least was), but at least split them among the days. If not, it's no wonder why they don't sell festival tickets. Saturday/Sunday was terrible for my liver and if that's how the new RW will be, I unfortunately need to find something else after 12 consecutive years. Maybe that's why they've booked Green Day to play Good Riddance 😉
