But it is a bit weird the law has gone in the other direction? We have an age when you are considered an adult and a few things split between 16 and 18. 18 drinking, doing p0rn etc.. and as I've pointed out most of the things that used to be 16 are now being moved to 18 i.e. a 16 year old girl is not wise enough to realise she is being groomed by a 50 year old teacher. Its difficult to make an argument it isn't politically motivated (and I've said I'm not sure the people who think it will benefit them will) without arguing everything should be dropped to 16.

I thought it was worse this year. As soon as a song comes on that people don't know they're in a circle loudly chatting -
Yeah, I was lucky this year. Couple of gigs where I had to relocate to avoid them but mostly I was surrounded by people fully engaged with the gig. The usual pattern is that you're enjoying the gig, in a space that is appropriate to your comfort in the crowd, a big group will barge in late, change the dynamic of the space while they shout to each other with no regard to anyone else's comfort or enjoyment. The moment the one song they know comes on they'll film themselves going mad to it like they've enjoyed the gig of a lifetime then leave.

One thing I noticed at the gate was there was very little tolerance from the English gate managers/security types (blue tops) for some of those in the red who did not speak particularly good English. I'm wondering if there was a briefing issue, did those doing the briefing just talk fast as if everyone speaks perfect English and didn't get the nuances across? I also imagine if you work other festivals and are told to rip apart everything including wallets and sunglasses cases to find any amount of drugs, that you probably need to be explicitly told that its not quite like that at this one festival. I'd imagine it was a briefing and understanding issue. -

I thought a lot of the 2pm games were good when it was generally smaller nations playing with freedom. The knockouts can often be hard work, I saw 2 0-0 matches live in the knockouts of euro 96. The tournament also has the disadvantage of following a mid season World Cup when players were fresh.
