The reason for this is that he shared a panel with Ken Loach? That's the reason given in an article when I Googled it anyway.

Classic Starmer eh, what's he like.

I mean...Ken Loach is forever going on about the antisemitism thing saying it's all exaggerated and a scam to kick out good honest socialists by w*nker right wing blairite zionist scum etc etc...so this Driscoll bloke was asking for trouble by doing it, but maybe that was the point, I don't know. Just set up another party ffs.

They won't do that because then they wouldn't have the funding, resources, staffing and brand that the Labour party gives them. They won't get anywhere as a new party take a look at Breakthrough and NIP for evidence of that.

His mistake was attending an event about films?

Why isn't he being judged on his record? It's crazy, the man has done so much good.

But hey, there's an election to win. Never mind all of that right?

Yeah, maybe...but a whole bunch of them have been kicked out of labour anyway... I'm sure an alternative party led by Corbyn could get at least 5% of the vote, maybe get funding from membership and a union or two...they could be labour's ukip...maybe they could keep starmer out and sunak in which would be a massive result.

To be honest I'd never heard of him before all this...but lots of people say good stuff about him. But starmer said he was going to be super tough on the antisemitism thing, and Loach is a problem with all that.

I think it wasn't just that thing with Loach, but that he didn't apologise for attending or condemn some of the stuff Loach has said.

We've heard all this before and no new party ever does anything, I highly doubt whether the most unpopular Labour leader in recent times can turn that around. Besides that would mean those on the far-left have to actually do something and we've seen time and time again that they don't want to do that.

Ultimately the Mayor was blocked from standing again because he was in an event specifically with a renowned anti-semite, that isn't acceptable for the Labour party especially with everything that's gone on in recent times.

the problem would be that a party led by corbyn would be a party led by corbyn.

5 percent in parts of Liverpool and London maybe, nationally not a chance. The supporters of Jez are a lot noisier on twitter than their numbers suggest.

As for the mayor it’s a bit of a non story , nobody had heard of him before and most will have forgotten him by the next election. He will probably benefit by getting more followers on Twitter and adulation of the momentum crew.

No one really cares about the story anyway, I bet you any money that the people that are saying how much of a travesty this is never ever heard of this guy before the story broke and now very conveniently they are singing his praises.

With purge of Driscoll and other lefties ...I expect this is mostly down to chief of staff Morgan McSweeny who's become very powerful in Labour but stays out of the limelight..he f**king hates the left and wants rid of them...and Starmer obviously trusts him because ... the polls.

The labour mp on Politics Live today is a shocker. As a welsh mp you'd have thought she would have the trauma of Kinnock's failure still fresh in her mind, but oh no, absolutely gloating at the inevitability of a labour government and smugly teasing the tory mp as he tries to defend their own ability to win the election. She thinks it's all done and dusted. It's that kind of behaviour that could turn waverers back to quietly voting tory, especially as she fluffed any attempt at explaining fiscal policy and the BoE's role in the interest rate fiasco.

If Labour do win, I hope she's not let anywhere near a cabinet position.
