Yeah they did that along with the relaxation of Stamp Duty (which I benefitted from). Those measures helped people but they didn’t do anywhere near enough to ensure supply kept up

But they don't actually help people I don't get how you can't grasp this. They just push up prices.

They did the Help To Buy thing, which I guess just feeds the problem.

Help to buy is chocked up at the mo and is a hindrance to buy not a help.

Denial or massive ignorance. Or trolling. Leaning more towards trolling again after the last few days (posting a link to why house prices are high with the first reason being low interest rates being the biggest indicator).

He defo trolls to an extent but I genuinely think he believes what he's saying. There is obviously an element of stupidity to it too with the interest rates thing too. I think it speaks volumes that over like 3 years on this thread and the covid one before it, he's managed to fall out with just about everyone, usually to the point they just give up and leave.

Buy To Help was designed to help people then buy a house. Nothing controversial about that. Yes they may keep prices increasing, but that's for future people to worry about.

I’m pretty sure at this stage whatever I post they would have issues with it. Most of their posts are about me for some reason.

It’s not rocket science to work out that if we have measures that boost demand for houses yet no measures to boost supply then it’s going to create an unsustainable situation. If we had the affordable measures like low interest rates along with other measures that ensure houses get built and that put people off buying 2nd homes then it would help people to be able to find and afford their home.

anyway, looks like mortgage rates are coming down a bit...still will be much higher for a lot of people coming off fixed terms...but I guess that may be the direction over the next 18 months. Just have to see what happens with inflation...Hopefully we'll get back to 0.5% interest rates and an 80% drop in house prices because they've built nice 3bed semis all over the green belt.

Personally can’t see it improving because of the issues with climate change many people are going to be forced from land where living becomes impossible . Sadly at some point there’s going to be conflicts

It would be great if there was a way to stop people buying second homes, but it would be impossible to police, cos the second home would go in the wife's name, etc.

It’s worth a try though isn’t it? Measures such as this would be a good idea.

If you want to insult me for not being able to buy a home and not expect some hostility, then you're deluded. I've tried to give you the benefit of the doubt before, but nah, you can jog on now.

Next time you make a passive aggressive comment about me it's getting reported, just fair warning.
