Talking of mugs...................................

The government's justification for footing a £265,000 bill for Boris Johnson's Partygate inquiry legal fees has been criticised by the spending watchdog.

An inquiry by MPs found the former prime minister had deliberately misled Parliament over lockdown parties during the pandemic.

The top lawyers helping Mr Johnson were paid for with taxpayer funds.

The government has repeatedly defended using public money to cover the costs.

But following its inspection of government accounts, the National Audit Office (NAO) said it was not convinced by the reasoning behind the decision, saying it was not "wholly persuasive".

In an audit opinion, the government's spending watchdog said due process was not followed when signing off the money for Mr Johnson's lawyers.

What a f**king numpty! If your house was on fire and another one in another road was too but they were doing nothing..... would you do nothing?

"Mr Sunak would use the speech to hail the UK as a world leader on net zero.
But he would also argue that Britain has over-delivered on confronting climate change and that other countries need to do more to pull their weight.""

""Rishi Sunak is considering weakening some of the government's key net zero commitments in a major policy shift.
It could include delaying a ban on the sales of new petrol and diesel cars and phasing out gas boilers, multiple sources have told the BBC.
The PM is preparing to set out the changes in a speech in the coming days.
There is no suggestion that Mr Sunak is considering abandoning the headline commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
But he is expected to declare that other countries need to bear more of the burden of dealing with climate change.
If Mr Sunak presses ahead with the plan it would represent a significant shift in the Conservative Party's approach to net zero policy, as well as establishing a clear dividing line with the Labour Party.""

Here we go then. As I’ve said a vote for Labour is a vote for fighting climate change.

A vote for ANY OTHER PARTY (except Reform) is a vote for fighting climate change.

If you really want to fight it and fast then everyone should vote Green as it will happen and it will happen much much quicker than Labour ever would.

A vote for the Greens will lead to a Tory government in nearly all cases.

Labour’s green policy offering is one of the most thorough and in depth of any of the major parties. None of them have the detail that Labour does.

What is not real about that? If EVRYOBE cares about climate change and votes for the leader on that, the Greens, then they win.

Or we could just hope Labour actually does what they say.

hopefully they won't start rolling back stuff now because of the change in tory policy and worries about losing red wall votes !!!!

So if everybody votes Green the Tories win - erm, I think you need some maths lessons.

I used the word everybody deliberatly. EVERYBODY.

I am sick of red to blue and back again. It has happened for 70 years and look at the mess - so lets just hope red works better til blue get sback in again..................

Why do you think the UK is f**ked?

It is cos we vote, as a country, for those that have failed before and hope they don't next time.

The time is now for change if we really want to make a real difference - but this thread shows we don't and jyst hope the next lot do nbetter

Big IF there.

Not everyone does care, not high on most people's lists of priorities. It's all cost of living, public services, immigration, crime. Tories may well do with this rowing back on net zero with a large proportion of the population. Look at ULEZ.  You can complain as much as you like, but that is the reality...and when comes to the next government it will be either tories or labour, or maybe labour-lib dem coalition. Best chance is a labour majority, a coalition will be mired in compromises and infighting and will get less done. Greens could win a few MPs at the most. Labour have a lot to sort out, and if things don't improve they will be out. If you live in an area where Green could take votes away from Tories...then go ahead. If you live in a Tory-Labour or Tory-LibDem marginal and you vote Green well, I think you're a fool.
