Its bad stuff.

In the absence of much substance the different centre to left factions have projected their own versions of Starmer and Reeves’ politics.

Now under pressure to produce something, it becomes clear that all of the factions are wrong. They are in fact just thick as f**k.

Do they think taxing developers will make new house prices go up or down?

Do they think that there are lots of railway stations in the middle of nowhere just waiting for a town to be built around it?

Dumb idiot thickos. In the bin.

it is for govt to sort out housing cos they control the price of housing via planning rules that decide how much new land is available for housing. even with that - govt can't make them "affordable" because of materials and labour.

I mean it depends what your definition of affordable is? What are you describing it as here? You make it sound like people want to go out and buy a house for a fiver with their weekly shop. Maybe just prices which aren’t 9x average income would help?

borrowing is borrowing whether its truss or you.

I’ve never met someone before who claims to be left wing but is so unambitious for what can be achieved in a rich country. What exactly do you want from this country? Everything is either too expensive or too much borrowing etc etc

We clearly need more housing and Labour’s plans will help us to build more. They will ensure that local areas build more and build over parts of the green belt that serve no purpose. It’s another sign of how different Labour are to the Tories.

I think it's more raising the cap on the fund that councils can spend... Raynor saying that Gove giving back to the treasury billions in unspent money... something like that.

the fund councils can spend is borrowing? council borrowing is included in govt debt.

This will go down well. Just before the party conference too:

No it won’t, he’s looking for issues for Labour at conference, unsurprisingly.

I'm sure there will be fringe events before the main speeches discussing this sort of stuff.

There probably will but it won’t really cause any major issues at Conference.

not joining up the dots.....

Quote

Withdrawing tax expenditures can change consumer behaviour if the associated increased costs are passed on to them. The Independent Schools Council lobby group has argued that the imposition of VAT would be self-defeating, as significant numbers of parents would withdraw their children from private schools, with consequent unmanageable increases in state school rolls and reductions in anticipated tax revenues.

There are about 560,000-570,000 children in fee-paying schools

how many new schools is 560,0000 kids - not cheap that!

Anyway repercussions from this Hama's attack could be big..Israel will strike back and many Palestinians in Gaza will likely die...but also Israeli public who have been unhappy over internal issues will now be asking questions over govt handling of security..and then there's wider region, how involved were Hezbollah and Iran...what does Saudi Arabia do etc etc.

this'll make netenyahpoo happy, maybe the anti-govt  protests will stop now.
