You keep saying this and you must think it’s an intelligent point to make but let me tell you, it isn’t. You seem to act like by ‘affordable’ I mean free.

you mean something which isn't market rate which you said you have a problem with make your mind up????

Help to buy and stamp duty holiday. 2 interventions which raised prices. Google it.

they only raised prices cos there were buyers to buy, anything that enables buyers also rises prices. that'll only change when there's fewer wanting to buy.

over-inflated by buyer-demand, more then by the govt. without the buyer-demand prices don't rise.

Facilitated by government intervention and stupidly low interest rates.

Anyway I cba arguing with a brick wall. House prices are dropping and will continue to drop for at least the next year which is a good thing for society.

supply can't be increased by enough to influence prices.

part of the problem with that is houses cant appear in the places people wanna buy.

if you want govt to somehow enable buyers prices will go up again. there's also recent wage rises to impact into prices.

I don’t want them to enable buyers. How much clearer can I be? I don’t want demand side reforms, I was supply side reforms. Like building more fkn houses

Nonsense. It clearly can. You’re just ignoring the principle of supply and demand cause it doesn’t suit ur narrative?

where can the houses be built in enough numbers to make a big dent in the wanna buys by enough to affect prices?

and where are the builders in enough numbers to do that?

There’s tonnes of green belt that can be built on and also density can be improved in existing places. Look at a city centre in most of Europe and you’ll see what can be done.

No idea about builders, not my problem. All I know is it’s clearly doable cause we’ve done it here before.

Britain is not densely populated. Green belt needs reforming and planning regs updated to stop the nimbys. The builders will take time to train but we can use immagrant labour in the short term

Popular places like Cambridge and York are constrained by green belt. We also need new towns in the south

people don't  want to live on remote estate oon the green belt  but  if you want to live remotely from your preferred location you can already afford to buy

I’ve never seen someone so determined to make out that nothing can be done about the housing crisis. So many bizarre takes.

its cos i've seen it play out and have thought about it, you're not offering solutions.
