The thing I'm getting from the labour conference is how much power the OBR is going to have during the next parliament

It's all about fiscal responsibility...they feel they have to go above and beyond with all that sh*t..when they get in with a massive majority they'll bin all that and tax and spend like f**king nutters and we'll all have to go work on collective farms and swear allegiance to Sir Keir three times a day.

Good policy that. Wonder how long it’ll be before the u-turn.

Also though.. requires people to engage in local politics a lot more.

At the moment local politics is the wild west and councillors are often just your local petty megalomaniac weirdo.

Might be working in the cities where even with 30-40% turnout you get enough of a large sample size to get semi decent politicians but in smaller towns like mine, I could easily see giving them a load of new powers and funds becoming a sh*t show.

Rachel Reeves will be able to find loopholes in their fiscal rules to enable them to spend more through means such as the Covid recovery task force, taxes on non-doms and private equity etc. She’s dropped hints on this already, so I imagine there’ll be things she can do.

Those are speculative or raise small amounts. I'm not sure where the tax loop holes are that can raise large amounts. I hope I'm wrong.

if there's going to be all that housebuilding there should be some decent growth. its good at stimulating sales in all sorts of different sectors.
