Braverman will likely be hoping it kicks off at this demo on saturday, the stupid twat.

I think you are right and sadly Sunak isn’t strong enough to do anything about it. So if anything happens it’s on him too.

Met Chief is confident he can manage both.  I hope so.  His arse will be on the line if it goes wrong.

That “management” is what will likely cause the civil discontent that allows Braverman to falsely claim they’re “hate marches” or “extremists” or other such drivel.

The Met are in a tough spot. Curtail to the unhinged rants of an incompetent Home Sec, or be thrown under her bus. Sunak is spineless for his own political reasons and meanwhile - as always - it’s society that is failed by the governing elite.

If the demonstrators stick to their route and behave themselves then there will be no need for them to live up to Home Sec false claims and in turn make them true.  If they are there for genuine demonstration then there is no need to not behave.

Agreed, but we both know that any large protest attracts its break-off groups, which she will seize upon to pretend that they represent the masses. It doesn't stop the masses being there for genuine demonstration. It doesn't warrant heavy handed behaviour on behalf of the met on the vast majority. It certainly doesn't justify Braverman's brand of ugly fascist populism to stifle free protest.

I'd like to see the age breakdown on this.

I suspect it will skew that older people are more bothered about Armistice day and younger people will be more bothered about people dying now.

I reckon your right.

One thing I've noticed in general is less people buying/wearing poppies.

A lot of it is down to personal remembrance.

The family and friends I know who went to war all came back so I don’t have anyone to remember personally.

As the years go by less people have died in conflict so unless you have a personal connection to someone in the military or you’re in a public facing role or work with older generations it’s not as much as a thing.
