I wonder what he proposes then when Hamas decide to use hospitals as battlegrounds ?   When Hamas decide to use the civilians as human shields.  If he had spent more time condemning Hamas and building a coconscious for their destruction maybe we wouldn't be here today.

The UN is a failed organisation.   I am appalled by his stupidity...

I think you'll find it's the I"D"F that are using hospitals as battlegrounds.

The UN is fantastic, just a shame some countries chose to ignore it.

Cleverly doesn't seem to be a twat...so maybe going forward now they can do the stuff that they should be doing...processing asylum seekers quickly to reduce backlog, return those whose asylum requests fail, and work with other countries in how going to deal with all this because it isn't going away (being in EU would probably make this simpler).

Alot of EU countries appear to be investigating similar solutions.. scandinavia, Austria, Italy etc.. You would think when ones finds something workable the others will copy it.

I agree with the above but other EU countries are looking at similar schemes. A French minister proposed recently to ignore ECHR and remove people  but pay the fines rather than leave the convention.

Where does public opinion sit on the Rwanda plan?

When the Rwanda policy was announced in April 2022, a poll immediately afterwards by Savanta found that just under half of the public supported it - compared with 26% who opposed it.

Ten days later, the same polling company found support had slipped a bit, to 41%, while 28% were against it.

New data from this week suggests that support has, if anything, increased.

This YouGov poll from yesterday found 28% strongly supported the plan, with 20% "tending to support" it.

Some 24% strongly opposed while 11% "tended to oppose". The remaining 18% said they did not know.

So 48% of the those asked are racist twats.

@PippaCrerar
Tory right-wing MPs now pushing for emergency legislation to be tabled within days to make the Rwanda scheme work - arguing that parliamentary sovereignty trumps any ruling from Supreme Court.

@breeallegretti
Lee Anderson says ministers should go ahead and “put planes in the air” to Rwanda anyway.

When I asked if he was suggesting ignoring the Supreme Court ruling, the Tory deputy chairman said govt should “ignore the laws and send them straight back”.

We have some proper genuine Nazi's in the government.
