2nd day of that Israel v S Africa genocide court case in Hague today. This time Israel gets to defend itself. Not sure Israel saying they were responding to Hamas or targeting Hamas will wash and I reckon court will rule that military action should cease, or at least change radically. Israel can ignore it, but not sure US will so might have a big impact. Court won't rule whether can be classed as genocide won't be for years I don't think but when look at what Israeli government members have been saying along with IDF actions then could well rule against Israel too. Israel were never going to destroy Hamas, but what they have done is damage Hamas but at same time destroy the lives and infrastructure of Palestinians.

To the surprise of no one. Corbyn is supporting the Houthi terrorists in this action. Not surprised when they have the same common interests as Hamas.

I think if we did one of those questionnaires, everybody in this thread would fall to the left of the Labour party anyway.

Most of the quarrel comes down to the fact that the electoral system means the choice is usually between quite sh*t and very sh*t. And then there are some who believe the best strategy is to settle for quite sh*t, and some who believe that by endlessly settling you tacitly condone the choice and it just goes on and on in perpetuity getting either rapidly worse, or less rapidly worse. Unless we get a hung parliament and we get PR. So vote green ✌️

This

Absolutely this

Well I was going to suggest another fun 'game' where we describe posters how a good single malt is described but using politicians names for the flavours etc.....................

but given what has happened since I logged off and how immediately financial markets are happily making profits from it so inflation will rear it's ugly head again and how the US and UK think that bombing yet another Middle Eastern country will have  a different result to the last times I think instead I shall just go and drink my collection of single malts.

Anyone would think the UK and US have both just entered election years.

Oh and for all those who are annoyed by Sunak's use of a private jet (and helicopter) to go places, well another similarity between the the two main party leaders appears. There is no excuse and they should simply not do it.

Sir Keir Starmer flew in a private jet paid for by Qatar to visit the country's leader last month, according to parliamentary records.

The Labour leader made a return trip to the kingdom whilst attending the COP28 climate conference held in Dubai.

His latest declaration of financial interests shows the trip for him and three staffers cost £25,508.

At least we didn't pay for it

Big difference between using a private jet for domestic travel and international travel.

If we had the infrastructure in the country then Sunak could have easily got the train. Wouldn’t have been a problem using his government provided vehicle and driver either.

Haha obsessed.

Must be so weird to have an old politically sidelined pacifist living rent free inside your massive empty head.

Rather we did. The alternative is that somebody else paid for it in expectation of a quid pro quo. A little tax cut here, a government contract there, an honour maybe.

If you're annoyed with sunak flying I hope be stopped flying yourself.

I note how you dropped the 'private jet' part as that does not fit with your mantra.

On a personal note, next week I fly, returning in Feb after passing my parts of my overseas work.

Then I do not plan to fly again.

Far from an exact science but tends to give a good idea of an individuals political leanings.

The Right - I'm Alright Jack

The Left - Is Jack Alright

Works fairly well when applied to posters on here.

Why, which one of us is Jack?

I've saved loads of emissions by refusing to fly for work. It's no good making nice noises without actions.
