rationing of what? energy use?

Yep which is why I don’t think they’ll fix prices low.. If there is a shortage of something then higher prices will discourage usage.

I reckon they'll do it, but nearer to October when they know what they're dealing with. Could be another few 100% up by then...

I doubt they will as that would actually help people. They’ll do something that doesn’t help anyone and just makes our lives worse.

Actually it looks like energy plans have already been drawn up here too:

Millions of UK households could face power rationing this winter according to a “reasonable” worst-case scenario drawn up by officials from across Whitehall in response to the conflict in Ukraine.

The briefing suggested that if Moscow goes further in cutting off supplies to the EU, electricity could be rationed for up to six million homes at the start of next year, mostly at peak times in the morning and evening

in the event of widespread energy shortages, Britain would be forced to implement its own gas emergency plans. This would lead to the closure of gas-fired power stations, and heavy industrial users of gas would be ordered to stop using it

The closure of the plants would lead to a shortage of electricity, forcing ministers to ration the nation’s power. Electricity would be turned off on weekdays at peak times in the morning, between 7am and 10am, and in the evenings, between 4pm and 9pm.

Also, it’s the perfect excuse for them to bring back the ‘Get back in the office, you lazy pricks’ culture war. I very much doubt office blocks will make do without electricity on a daily basis…

I do think there would be a change in public sentiment and therefore politicians to push Ukraine into a peace deal where they handed over territory to Russia if it happens.

kind of funny that tories are now stuck with a really unpopular leader they can't get rid of and who is never going to quit.

It's almost like corbyn revisited.

So today to distract from the latest government scandal we’ve had:

- Zelensky phone call

- Bogus beergate story

What else will try before the day ends?
