Inflation is a nightmare...lowering taxes doesn't fix it.

It’ll help when inflation is due to global supply issues not consumer confidence. It’s not a normal type of inflation so we need to ensure people have more money to keep them going.

if they lower tax now it will inevitably lead to cuts. Last thing this country needs. Levelling up, net zero, as well as health/social crisis, funds for schools and police...and now an increase of defence spending.

Then borrow more or tax the rich. Lower taxes doesn’t have to lead to cuts. That’s a fallacy.

Yes, borrow more maybe....but we already have a massive debt, inflation is high, the economy unlikely to grow strongly any time soon. But yes, tax those that can afford it...do something with income taxes maybe...with the thresholds. It's crazy the inequality in this country. I was in Blackpool over the weekend and the place is fucked...I have a whole story about it...but basically there was trouble, no police, no ambulances, just feral kids and fucked off business owners and disorder and chaos. This is the left behind towns that you hear about. The places that voted brexit because they're desperate. Not sure they were bothered about tax or gender issues, they just wanted working public services, and to be able to go about their day.

We essentially owe the debt to ourselves, the BOE is essentially a government body so we can have power on repayment etc. The Tories have lied to us by saying we need cuts etc because they want to take the money out of the state for themselves.
