It's Martin Lewis warning that household energy bills are going to be really high. If he stops then I'm sure bills will come down.

martin loves a good rant.

he can always live off his wife's bbc salary. 😛 or his multi million pound fortune that hes worried the govt might tax.

to be fair it was clear the russians had lost within a few weeks.

it was clear that it wasn't going to be an easy win after a few weeks...they haven't lost yet...and most likely it will be a messy stalemate for a while until both sides agree to a ceasefire thing...god knows when that will be.

But right at start the thinking was that Russian might would overwhelm Ukraine pretty quickly.

Come on now, Martin Lewis has been trying to help people and has put a big spotlight on the energy crises. He deserves a lot of praise not right wingers criticising him.

I think Mail has been accusing him of catastrophising, saying it's going to be a nightmare and people will die etc...and this will push us into a recession. But...he's likely right if govt don't do anything more to help, but I expect they will, they'll have to. And I think the recession thing is probably what bank of england actually wants to help easy inflation.

He’s right about it, it might sound like he’s catastrophising because the situation is really bad. The Mail (and others) are trying to smear others like him to deflect blame away from the Tories.

That last paragraph is quite chilling, can't see it happening though...god I hope it doesn't happen.

I suppose what we're seeing play out in the tory leadership debate is perhaps the reason why they were so reluctant to get rid of Johnson in the first place...the party is full of incompetent ideologues who think they're the bee's knees. Really not looking forward to the next few months it's going to be a rough ride.

Apologies if already posted, I'm playing catch-up, but an interesting view that I'd not considered before:

[Paul Waugh] Former minister: "Boris is such a lucky bugger. Gove did him a massive favour in 2016 by knifing him because if he’d won he’d have had to deal with Brexit from day 1, rather than coming in to ‘rescue’ it yrs later. Now he’s going to miss the shit-show on energy + the recession”

Someone should do an alternative history TV drama series on that one.

Mind you, the 'former minister' is ignoring the fact that Johnson was at the helm for the pandemic response, botched it and killed tens of thousands more people than should have died whilst proudly claiming his legacy is getting all the big calls right <sigh>.

If they did this surely it would electoral suicide?
