I think it feels worse here because of the state of the renters market. Renting is so expensive and you’re completely at the mercy of how good/bad the landlord is. If there were better checks/balances in place to protect renters then people might be happier to rent.

it does seem all wrong. Ideally we'd all be living in identical state owned housing and wearing the same clothes and stuff.

I got lucky with my last landlord. He started renting out of his house after getting married so to him it’s still his house and wants to look after it rather than it just being a source of income.

I had something similar but within 2 years his relationship had fallen apart, he had moved back in and then served me eviction. It was hell for my mental health.

That’s the downside too. Should be fine with my new place other than the proximity of the local pub.

Yeah crazy that this shit still happens, but at same time is possibly going to happen more often with climate change. Terrible.
